Deleting MSE Forum User Account

Hi,

Does anyone know how I permanently delete my MSE Forum User Account?

Either just let it lie dormant or if you really want there is a “contact us” link if you click on “Your Profile”
I guess they could/would delete it

Or ... the forum is moving to a new platform very soon. Just don't bother authenticating your account on the new platform.

Just because I'm nosy, is there any particular reason you're looking at removing the account as you've not posted in 5½ years until today?

Contact the forum admin team who can arrange for you to become an "archived user", no longer identifiable by your user name or able to make new posts.

They can also delete your account entirely if you have urgent privacy concerns..

You can also "update" your E-Mail address falsely so that your account does not migrate across to the new Forum software coming soon...

Do you have any more information on this? I am still using the old style look ("New masthead, fixed width (recommended)" in User CP options) because I absolutely hate the new look.

I think you've misunderstood.
If you do as I suggested to the Op and update your E-Mail to a false address you won't get any authentication code to allow you to move your account to the new forum.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the "skin" you use on the current forum, the old forum will shortly cease to exist entirely.

No I didn't misunderstand, perhaps my post wasn't made as clear as it could have been.

I am using the old forum look and dread any changes in appearance that any forums might bring - especially when you take the MSE's past record into consideration, not excluding the new look forums which is full of more air than content.

I suspect the new forum will be different in appearance to anything we've been used to, new OR old.

I also suspect we'll all have to like it or lump it...
