  • hello money inept,

the bank hasnt paid me any settelement because I didnt agree to the offer. the calculation/offer they sent was premiums paid less claims paid out and it seemed really mean to me,

so yes on a few occasions my claim on the policy was successful, hence the deduction on the ppi misselling claim i filed.

    is this clear? thankyou

David 8209 - the idea of PPI redress is to put you back in the position as if you hadn’t taken the policy which would mean a refund of all premiums paid... however on the flip side if you never had a policy then you could never have claimed against it. As such FCA guidance makes it clear that any successful claims can be deducted from any redress due.

I hope this clarifies matters for you.

You should have accepted their offer, PPI refunds are not negotiable unless you can provide evidence which wasn't used when they reviewed your complaint and this could have affected how much you paid. It's totally fair that they deduct amounts that you received from your claims on the policy.

I don't really understand why you stopped paying the PPI when you had successfully claimed on your policy ? That's exactly what the policy was meant to provide, so you benefitted from it. How can you now claim it was missold ?
