Avro

Is anyone else having problems with AVRO? I changed to them for dual fuel in 2018 based upon the offer they had at the time and a very high customer services score. Hmmm...…. Changed to British Gas in September 2019 due to a much better deal. On checking my account with AVRO found I had overpaid by £200+ and so expected a rebate. Was told by their customer services it would take 5-8 weeks. Based upon this I assumed that payment would be made by end November 2019 latest. Guess what, still waiting! A number of phone calls and emails have not given me any confidence that this will be resolved anytime soon - "We have forwarded your problem to the Finance Team who should resolve the problem in the next 5 days" has been the usual answer.. I have contacted the energy ombudsman so it will be interesting to see what help they can give. Just wondering if AVRO are one of the "new" energy providers who is now suffering from a cash flow problem.

This is from OFGEM website as of May 1
"Customers will also be entitled to a £30 payment if their previous supplier is late in refunding them their credit balance after they have switched.
Under Ofgem’s rules, suppliers must refund these credit balances within 10 working days of a final bill being issued.
Suppliers are required to pay compensation automatically to the affected customer within 10 days of the breach occurring. If they fail to make the initial payment, they will be required to make a further payment of £30."

Unless Ofgem have recently got their act together, it was a meaningless safeguard because there were no sanctions if the final bill was late. rolleyes.gif
