O/S Daily Friday 10 January 2020

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark and damp start to the day, but it doesn't appear to be raining at the moment, it rained heavily and for a long time last night.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was pork escalope with pasta in sauce. Tonight will be a quick something and chips for the menfolk. I'll probably have some of the LO pasta made into something.

I'll be heading to the SM first thing - then home to get on with the other jobs on the list.

Yesterday I wasn't overly productive, but did get the jobs done that needed it, will do what's necessary today.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A bright, breezy and cooler day in store for us today.

The girlies are still in the land of nod but I will need to rouse them in half an hour, then let the mayhem of feeding, watering and getting ready for school begin. Just time for another coffee methinks.

I have the pleasure of the Friday Tidy in store and it really does need it. DS put the Xmas stuff up in the loft yesterday so I can now clean the small bedroom without all the boxes cluttering it up.

I have rearranged the Sparkle meet for this Sunday morning. It took ages to come to a mutually agreeable day and time. I hope she doesn't go a-wandering this time! She was treat very badly in her first home and is very wary of strangers so I don't expect a friendly greeting from her. But I am assured once she has got used to me and settled in she will be a totally different puss.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. JACKIE Ida isn't a name you hear much nowadays is it. My DM's best friend was called Ida. Take care all xx

Congratulations on the new DGGD Jackie, love the name and what a healthy weight!
    Stay strong RR.
    Well done Gers!
Hope your visit to Sparkle goes well TA.

Not much to report here, just plodding along through a cold, dark January! It's my early finish from work today so will be coming home to do housework instead of sitting watching TV, really must sort out my eating too, I feel so heavy!

Have a happy Friday, take care. XX

Cold here but still dark so cant see if its raining, off to work for me but its Friday ! its my hardest day client wise though and I am always shattered when I get back.

DD is doing well but had a setback yesterday when she saw he has closed the joint account and cancelled all the dd's on the house, without telling her, they had agreed to keep it open for the time being and pay a set amount in to cover the direct debits etc but he has closed the account !! (she got her money out so nothing lost) he is still begging forgiveness and saying he will change etc but she is staying strong !!

Pork fillet tonight I will marinade it in a garlic paste and then dd will slow cook it this afternoon we will probably have sw chips and peas with it.

Washing to do tonight and tomorrow we will continue to put dd's bits away tomorrow.

    Have good days all xx

Jackie congratulations !! and I love the name xx
  • Good morning, it's dry here with a hard frost.

TA, I'm pleased that you will get your little cat at last, I'm sure you'll give her a lovely home. The girls will love her!! How's the rabbit doing, has he settled in with his new family?

RR, your poor DD, glad she's staying strong, that man sounds so nasty.

Jackie, congratulations on your new DGGD!

I'll have to go out today, bread is needed and some veg, and we've been meaning to go to the caravan, that'll get done today.
We are going out tonight with some friends so we're looking forward to that.
    That's it really.
Hope everyone has a good Friday.
    Take care folks

    Morning everyone.

This morning I've got a haircut at 9.30am, it hasn't been done for eight weeks. Later on the doctor is coming to see DM, she's still losing weight and complaining of nausea and pain in her tummy.

That'll be my day. I had hoped to go swimming though that seems off the agenda now.

    REDRUBY - what a ****@** of a bloke!

BEENTHERE - my DM has just emailed a publishing house to point the misuse of 'palate' when 'palette' is the correct word. She got really angry!

TA - sounds that Sparkle will be a lovely cat.

Rousing time...I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Friday.

    Hello everyone
Looks like another bright day here.
I have a treat in store. DGD is singing with her school choir in an event called Young Voices. It's in an arena, and there will be lots of junior school choirs. DDiL is going on the coach with the choir as a helper, so I am going with DS to be in the audience. Will be good, I think. Just hope we can spot her in the hundreds of others.
Jackie O. Congratulations. Lots of cuddles ahead.
BTDT and Gers DM I 'proof read' everything! Really wanted to tell a man in a gas van yesterday that there's a big difference between your and you're!
dp1 hope there's some progress at the hospital today
    Happy Friday!
  • Good morning and happy Friday everyone,

I stayed late in work last night, till about 7.30pm to finish off bits of and bobs. I got home to have my catch up with my gran which was nice, she's got the cold but is managing ok and is high spirits. I also applied for a couple of jobs that I was alerted to, with a long and drawn out application process. I've seen a few others I quite fancy so that'll be my task tonight/over the weekend. I had just enough time for my beef and broccoli stir fry before going to football. Was in bed for 10.30 but can recall still being awake an hour later.

Forced myself to the gym this morning, making it every morning before work this week. This used to be my norm when I would go with my mate but as I don't have a gym buddy, the onus is on me and sometimes my need for an extra couple of hours kip comes out on top. Anyway, this is a habit I hope to continue with for 2020. taff, I may need some of Mr Motivators motivation to help me!

    Jackie - Congratulations!!
TA - A presume she returned after her adventure?
Ruby - He sounds like a piece of work, as my gran would say.
DP - Hoping you and the family are ok.
  • Good morning, it is getting light now and I think we will have a bright day, but it is very cold. I know this because I went out to put the kitchen towels on the line. Fortunately the heating came on while I did that and I'm sitting by a radiator, getting warm again.

JackieO huge congratulations, Ida is a lovely name!

dp1 best wishes for your little granddaughter.

Still a total lack of birds on my bird table, a rat tried to get on it, it got all the way up the pole but couldn't work out how to navigate itself onto the flat bit. I feel mean now, poor little rat.

I'm going out for a park walk and then coffee with a friend today, I am leaving thr Friday Tidy apart from essentials, partly because OH and DS will be away for a couple of days next wee, so much easier to do it then. And now that I'm home more, I don't need to structure my life quite so much. Yesterday I did some work, some washing and ironing (unlike me but trying to be disciplined about hateful ironing) a bit of cleaning but I'm tending to just do some cleaning each day rather than a big blitz.

TA I am looking forward to hearing about Sparkle, good to know that she returned safely.

Hope everyone has a good day.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

I've been awake since 2am and up since 4am with pain in my hip and knee, so I shall be limp-a-long Lizzie today. The good news is that there has been a beautiful red fireball in the sky, first sun we've seen this year :j.
This morning we have to collect Mr Fix It's script from the surgery and get it filled at the pharmacy. Next it's into town to the bank, H Barginous and Wil*os for a few bits and bobs. Maybe we'll have a sneaky coffee in our favourite independent coffee shop if we have time. We will probably call in the chip shop for a chippy lunch and then this afternoon we are housesitting for DD until DSiL arrives home, as a gas man is due between 1pm and 5pm. We won't be home til 4ish and I expect I'll be hanging by then, but no chance of a nana nap so an early night is on the cards. At least there will be no tea to cook !
Hope everyone has a good day
    Take care all
    nan xx
