Travel insurance scope question

Hi everyone,

My questions is regarding travel insurance so I wasn't sure whether to post it in travel or insurance section, so apologies if I have posted in the wrong section.

I have just booked my flights and hotel for travel to Asia in September this year. I bought an annual multi-trip travel insurance last year in April (it was world wide insurance which covers asia) for another trip but that policy expires in March this year.

Do I need to take out another insurance policy NOW because my trip is after March? Or will my current policy cover any mishap until March? In which case I could just keep the existing policy and get a new one just before the existing one expires? Or should I get a fresh policy now for my September trip?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Many thanks.

I suggest you contact your insurers, and be prepared to pay now to renew it for next year.

Interesting question as I am in the same situation. Please post back when you have a response from the insurer.
  • Great thanks for the advice. I'll contact the insurer and report back what they say.

Existing insurance usually covers up to expiry date and the new insurance takes over from then but best check with your current insurers to confirm that's what they do.

I have had annual insurance for years and I just buy new or renew to carry on from the when the existing insurance finishes.

The existing insurance covers you from when you purchased the flights etc as long as you don't contravene any conditions, such as , trip length.
