From what I have read shell are knocking the £66/67 off the bill, british gas however are refunding the bank account that the direct debit came out of.  Pity they couldn't all have done it the same way but I suppose that would be too sensible.

Oh well, guess that explains it then 🙄. I must have missed that information somewhere in the small print 😂.

Just to add, I have just bought 2 pairs of black boots from Cotton Traders. One is a pair of walking boots as mine are full of holes, and the other is a vaguely smart looking pair with a fur lining which will do for anything my brown knee high boots don't match with (sadly I'm predominantly thinking of the funeral with that).

There is 22.5% off just now, and I did it as a new customer through Quidco so should get 11.25% cashback at some point, and I'm collecting from the store so don't have to pay delivery. Annoyingly Cotton Traders don't accept Amex so couldn't get my extra 5% back through that. Anyway it just about works out that the smart pair were free, so that's nice. I've been waiting for an Cotton traders discount that was worth going for, and this about the best there has been.

Oh, and I'll still be using my old boots when it is dry until they totally fall apart - which could be years.  So that means the new ones will be used less and last longer.

I still have stuck to the wall in front of my work computer Amy Dacycyn's Frugal Riles from The Tightwad Gazette 1. Buy it cheaper, 2. Make it last longer, 3. Use it less.  When I am paying attention to frugality I do try to follow them. Hopefully these boots follow all those rules!

Sounds like a good discount! Do you like/recommend Quidco? Used to use topcashback but they annoyed me with purchase not tracking through so I gave up on it. 5% on the Amex - those were the days I remember them fondly! We shifted all spending to it so we could max the £100 cashback.

  • Ooh I saw some nice stuff in CT the other day, didn't know there was a discount on, must have a look. Although I prefer to buy 2nd hand, but I am in need of a new warm jumper for the winter and some 2nd hand ones just seem to be gone all baggy. I used to use Quidco, but not used them for years. Been using TCB, but some retailers take soooooo long to track.

I don't buy that much these days so have barely use it.  I have Quidco and Topcashback apps on my phone and just check fro whats giving the highest cashback when I remember to look when buying something.  Currently the cashback is tracking as though I'm an existing customer, so only 3 or 4%, but I'm definitely new so will see how that goes.
