Finally fess up as driver to spare my elderly in-laws

So, got issued a scammy PCN in Dec, unfortunately it was from an IPC member so no POPLA.
The real kicker is that I was driving my mother-in-laws car (legally) at the time - pulled into a car park to scoff a double cheese burger and make a phonecall - turns out it wasn't MCD's car park and some greasy person was spying on us and zooming in with a camera, watching if we went into the establishment the car park 'belonged to'. We didn't, 6 minutes later drove off and they issued the PCN to the keeper (mother-in-law) for £100 with reason of "Non-patron"... I swear to go d I didn't see the signs as I drove in, they're about 10 feet in the air, way above the car's windscreen level.
I appealed using their (National Parking Enforcement Ltd) online website appeal system straight away without naming the driver, using the template in the Newbies thread - predictably I've finally received a rejection reply via e-mail today, inviting to use the useless IAS.
Obviously, this reply was still 'addressed' to my Mother-in-law, and that'll cause me grief potentially if I don't rectify that. I think I still technically have a couple of days left to 'name the driver' - how much doo doo am I in myself if I do that?
Does the whole process just start over again I assume? Can I still appeal using the template or will that need adjustment as I'll be known to them as the driver?
Cheers in advance for any advice.

It is your MIL who has to name you.
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Thx The Deep.
Yes, sorry I should've been clearer - I know the MIL will need to name me, but to spare her all this (and grief coming my way, lol) I'm the one physically doing all the leg work 'as her'.0 -
I definitely would get the keeper to name you and give your postal address and keep proof of posting, but NOT NOT NOT Recorded delivery...and not Special Delivery either. Finally fess up as driver to spare my elderly in-laws
Don't let the elderlies waste their money on what they call 'registered post' (doesn't exist).
You know how to get a free cert of posting as we bang on about it often enough on here.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
