Saltaire (WY) Living Experiences

Hi there,
I am currently looking into buying a first home and, having visited Saltaire, I am very attracted to the area. However, I wondered if anyone had any experience of living there and would recommend it?
Specifically on the commute (into Leeds), crime, neighbourhoods and local amenities.
Thanks,
Craig

I lived there for a few years, and now live about 15 minutes away. It's a lovely place to live, perfect for first time buyers, nice community feel, places like Salts Mill on your doorstep to visit, little cafes, pubs etc. If you are a walker, you have beautiful countryside on your doorstep.
Were you looking at the houses in Saltaire village? The only downside I found was that the outside space is small - they are yards rather than a garden, but they do the job if you just want somewhere to put a table and chairs. If you have a car, you will have to park on the street.
Crime wise. that link sevenhills posted tallies with my experience - a couple of occasions people walked along the road trying car doors and pinching stuff from the cars. And you might get the occasional noisy person who has been drinking walking down the road and making noise.
Commute into Leeds is good, 18 minutes on the train, trains every half an hour, more in rush hour - although rush hour trains are busy and you won't get a seat by Saltaire. I'd always get the train rather than face the chaos of driving.
Feel free to PM me if you want any more info!0
