in Credit cards
Hello
Need your advice pls.
I applied for a Tesco credit card 3 months after successfully getting a capital one for 250,thinking i would now be accepted because ive been refused in the past.
When filling in the application, i put in "MIke" (not real name just for the purpose of this info) instead of micheal.so i shortened it to what im usually called instead of full name.didnt think much of it.
Even put my full tesco clubcard number which obviously has my full name and details.
Got a letter in the post today requesting proog of id and address which had to be certified and i was wondering why.
Someone told me it could be my name. Called them immediately and rectified it and told them it was just a short form of my name.not done intentionally. And they said yes thats y they requested ID
They said ok and put the application through right on the phone and said declined.fair enough
My fear now is would that have been seen as something off , because of the name?.i dont want anything going on my CIFAS file as ive been fraud free and have a 10 yr old bank account
Thanks for your help

if 3 months ago the only credit card you could get was a Capital One credit card with a £250 limit, why do you believe that you would have become eligible for a Tesco card three months later?
I don't imagine that anybody would consider writing Mike instead of Michael as fraud so I don't think you have anything to worry about there.
What I do find slightly odd here though is that if the original application was referred and all they were asking for was certified ID and proof of address, then in all probability it had been provisionally accepted as they would not have bothered themselves to ask for the certified documents if they had intended to decline the application anyway.0 -
I thought so too but when someone explained to me that they probably not seeing "Mike" instead of Michealnl thats when i thought i call them ane ask if that was the error.if they put it through and ask for id im more than happy to send that through.
So was also shocked when it came back declined. Even when all other details were correct thats when i thought if its giving 2 different outcomes.hope they dont think its a case of lying0 -
I wouldn't worry about it.
I have some things in my full name and some in my short name (mostly I use the shortened version of my name.
All it will does is shows as an alias on your credit reports.
If you have never done this before, then that is why you was asked to provide further ID as what you had entered did not match what the CRA's held.
I would have just sent in the requeted documentation that they had asked for.0 -
I can still post it to them.im happy to do that if it would consider a review.
I applied because i had been declined for capital one severally in the past.and since i got accepted i thought tesco foundation card would be accepted too as i have a poor credit history0 -
Give it a go, it's worth a shot?0

In July last year, the only CC I could get was with Cap One at £200. In September I got a Virgin CC with £1,800 and in December a Halifax Card with £3,700 :think:0
