Settling an accident

I was recently involved in a minor collision and thankfully no one got hurt and all was well. This collision was completely at fault of the third party. They admitted liability, dash cam evidence backs up this etc etc. Very clear cut. We exchanged details and have been in touch via text, all very nice and civilized. However, I can already sense that there's some serious procrastination going on in paying for the damage, lots of little excuses and sudden emergencies.
Should they refuse / stop communicating what are my options? Do I just call up some solicitor? Also, what if it turns out I was given a bogus address (although that's looking very unlikely at this point)
P.S There is no 3rd party vehicle, the damage caused to my vehicle was due to their property being on the road and I was unable avoid.

So you didn't go through your insurance because you thought it would increase your premiums but are prepared to speak to lawyers? *shakes head*
I'd be speaking to either his insurance company or yours.0 -
Go straight to their insurers.0

There is no vehicle, it was involving the third parties property that was on the road.0

Thanks for drip feeding the information.
In that case, you should have reported to your insurer first and foremost. You are under a duty to report any incident to your insurer anyway. If fully comp, personally I'd claim from your own insurance and let them recover their outlay.
If the third party don't play ball, the only option you have is to take them to Court. Presumably cost of damage will be under £10k so will be allocated to small claims track where costs are not recoverable. Unless you have legal expenses insurance, no solicitors will take this on unless you pay their fees yourself.0 -
What "property"? Would it be covered under their household contents insurance?
If it's something like a free-range trampoline, then it almost certainly will be.0 -
Assume this is the incident where you ran over a dog.
You would need to prove the owner was negligent, with less than £1000 of damage you would not recover your solicitors costs even if you won in court. Even if you won you still have to enforce the judgement. If they don't have the money they can't pay and it will stay outstanding as an unsatisfied judgement.
I know its not what you want to hear but if the other party won't pay either go to your insurers or repair it yourself.0 -

We never did find out if the dog was insured, did we?
There's a number of probably ways for the OP to be reimbursed...
Dog insurance
Dog owner's household insurance
OP's car insurance
Small claim0 -
I already warned you that trying to small claims them would end in tears.
Just wait for the social media s###storm "He ran Billy over and now he wants me to pay for his car"
Paying for your bumper out of your own pocket will be nothing to what that will cost you- just claim on your insurance, they clearly don't have any, and can't afford to pay up.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
