Cruise holiday options - NOT TUI!

Celebrating our silver wedding anniversary this year and we'd like to go on a cruise.

In the past we've went with TUI and really enjoyed it, but they're now 'on the list' so we won't be going with them this year.

We liked TUI because the boats weren't huge, and what you paid included everything and there were no added costs later.

Can anyone suggest any options for this years cruise?

    Need more detail.
    Like budget, destination etc.

If money no object, Ponant have smaller ships.

Thanks for the reply. I'd say a budget of £3-4k Not thought about where - so I suppose nothing is ruled out.

not sure if it will fit budget (if that is for 2) but Azamara have some really interesting itineraries (we have done Singapore to Hong Kong, India and Sri Lanka and West Indies. 3 cruises all very special)

With £1.5k-£2k pp there are loads of options.

You can add AI to most cruises with that budget.

Why is Marella off the list as they have decent prices on some trips.

What is your list of wants?

So far we have the equivalent of I want a blue car any recommendations.

Marella are on the list thanks to their appalling customer care service. We had a terrible holiday last year (not a cruise) and they washed their hands of any responsibility and have refused to back up their refusal with written confirmation of the reasons they gave over the phone. I wanted to take the matter further but ABTA are a pointless exercise and I'm kinda lost as to where I go next.

Anyway, we've done week long cruises around the med and that where we'd like to go again. My wife likes the sunshine and the flight times are acceptable; 3-4 hours.

I'm really looking for recommendations for a cruise operator that has the small boat because that's what my wife likes, and no hidden costs.

If you are looking for another cruise promoted towards the British then you could try P&O.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!
  • From the little info posted, your best bet is P&O. Although not the best it will fit your budget and does offer value for money if you choose lower grade cabins. If you want a better experience look to Celebrity, Princess or Holland America - you get what you pay for is a true saying......

    especially cruises.

You could try Fred Olsen and leave from a British port.
Not luxurious but it suits us.

We're going to Iceland in May for 9 days sailing from Newcastle.

We went on a cruise for our Golden anniversary and got a bottle of champagne and flowers in our cabin and the crew sung happy anniversary at our table at dinner:j
  • P&O do have some great offers. I've only been on the Britannia and that's huge, other boats are smaller. Drinks are separate and I think the drinks package does not represent great value for money, unless you both really like a drink.
    Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023

    Make £2024 in 2024...

If ABTA are useless then use the package travel regulations and small claim court.
