Built-in wardrobes

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could advise me about built-in wardrobes?
We are considering getting some but they would need to be on finance. I just wondered what people's experience of these companies are? Are there any to avoid? I've heard Sharps are horrendously expensive so I'm not looking at them. I've seen a few companies offering 0% finance which would be ideal because we don't have ££££ to pay upfront (or for a local carpenter to build them).
We have an awkward-shaped room because of a chimney breast so built-in wardrobes either side would be ideal. I've looked at the Ikea pax ones but not that keen as they wouldn't fit perfectly.
Thanks in advance

The other companies only sell the same sort of stuff as Ikea in minimal sizing; they just use trims around them to make them look fitted.
We're building our own house and being short of the funds to have truly bespoke wardrobes (which Sharps etc are not), Ikea provide better value for money than anyone else by a long way. With a decent carpenter and plasterer, we will make them look properly fitted and better than anything Sharps etc have to offer.
I intend to bring the walls in so that they fit the wardrobes rather than the other way around.
Along the lines of the walls in this kitchen that we did:

There is no such thing as free finance. The wardrobe company effectively pay the interest to the finance company that you would have normally paid them if it was a non-interest free deal. So you are paying more for the wardrobes for this facility.
A decent carpenter could adapt the Ikea wardrobes and put filler panels in etc to give it the built in 'look'.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Just get a sliding door kit from Screwfix to fit the alcove width and height, and then interior shelves/rails from Screwfix, Ikea etc

Good tip off Kirsty Allsopp last night was to measure how much space your hanging clothes need after a declutter tto decide on rail length and placement in wardrobe.0

This is exactly what I'm doing in a few weeks. :T0 -
We used Hammonds some years ago. The finished wardrobes were about 3 inches shorter than the drawings and when we questioned it with the installer he claimed they were standard sizes and we shouldn't have been told they would be longer. He didn't bother to mention the problem when he started the installation.
On the positive side, they are extremely well built.0 -
Hammonds are useless and would not recommend them. They advertise as being premium quality when in reality it's standard wardrobe sizes, not custom made, just with trim to fill the gap. Plus they outsource the fitters so it's a gamble with the quality of fitting as we found out to our detriment. Definately avoid.0

Will the February sale be better or worse? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
What you get with the likes of Ikea etc. is the ability to mix and match bits as all the holes are pre drilled into the frames to allow stuff to be at any hight.
unless you get custom doors or go sliding you are going to be getting standard sizes with trim for the carcases.
when looking for some rails I found the shop fitting companies to be competitive for basic rail shelf combinations.
Once you get the front sorted you can use walk in fittings no need for any carcases.
Tube and clamp can build just about anything
Here are two I looked at

A really simple solution behind doors is free standing drawer unit(s) and rails attached to the walls, optional top shelf
or go for something like the chrome adjustable units.
