Company Car v Motability Car

I currently have a company car, but have recently been awarded higher rate mobility on PIP so have the option of a Motability car instead. On a first assessment it looks like they both work out roughly the same financially - has anyone any insights into how I can figure out how the two would compare financially? I know its not the cheapest way of motoring but the hassle free driving is a real benefit to me.

Surely a company car would work out cheaper for work, it'll be down to the private mileage costs.
If you take a motability car than you'll lose that element of the benefit.0 -
Shaun. pretty much all of my mileage is private (although not sure what difference it actually makes?).0

Will you be requiring any adaptions for the car?0

Not yet, but its highly likely that I will need adaptions in the future as things progress.0

Disability legislation means that your employer need to make reasonable adaptations - but if the car is a perk, rather than a business requirement, then the response to that may be to withdraw the perk for all those in a similar position...numpty_dumpty wrote: »Not yet, but its highly likely that I will need adaptions in the future as things progress.
Motab comes insured, doesn't it? Would they cover you for business use?0 -
Car is a perk, not a business requirement. Had a quick look and Motability will provide business insurance. Hadn't thought about the company providing reasonable adaptions for car, they are pretty good with flexible working, working from home as needed, time off for medical appointments etc.0

I'd stick with Motobility then as they will provide the adaptions for free or at a substantially reduced cost as well as covering all the necessary service requirements for said adaptions on top of the normal servicing for the vehicle.numpty_dumpty wrote: »Not yet, but its highly likely that I will need adaptions in the future as things progress.0 -
Would your employer give you a car allowance instead of the company car? Might swing it comfortably toward the motobility option (as well as the reduced tax you'd need to pay).0
