O/S Daily Thursday 9th January 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was chicken in chasseur sauce, mash and veg, not sure what we'll be having tonight but I'll sort something today.
Work yesterday wasn't too bad, although they said the'd been manic Monday and Tuesday was nearly as bad. I'm now on days' off until I go back on Monday.
Have the normal "to do" list - which I'll crack on with.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Calmer weather today but cold and damp, the washing line will think I've fallen out with it!
Well done to you and your DD RedRuby, glad DD and pup are safe with you.
Big hugs to you and your family DP1.
It's been a tough few days at work, quite a bit of bad news from our families but good to see a community spirit, sometimes I think we are as good as Social Services.
I think I told you that DS2 had left his laptop here? The delivery company I used were quite poor for the money I paid so I put in a complaint. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with emails they have agreed to refund the fee, pleased with that outcome.
Gers - I fear I am one of the lane hoggers at the pool!
Have a good day, Thursday already. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Evidence of overnight rain but still feels mild.
Yesterday was not a good day. Hairdresser was in scalping mode and has chopped far too much off. Oh well it will soon grow I suppose. Then DD and I went to view Sparkle as planned after 6.00. We got lost on the way but eventually got there - only to be met by an upset cat fosterer. Sparkle had followed their resident cat outside in the morning, resident cat came back in after two minutes but no Sparkle with him. She said this is so out of character as Sparkle rarely goes outside and when she does it's only in the garden. She was worried sick as they had been out looking and no sign of her. She took my number and is going to ring me with any further news. I couldn't sleep worrying about the poor little cat.
I have the dentist this afternoon. Just a check up so fingers crossed I don't need anything doing. Then the 3 DGDs are here for tea and sleepover. Being Thursday it's the customary Bolognese Bake so will get the Bolognese on the go first job. Then empty dw which I couldn't be ar*ed doing last night.
AOD birds are so frustrating aren't they! DD gave me a fancy bird feeding ring affair which I hung on the fence. Birds are coming to the table as usual but ignoring the ring! I resorted to leaving the table bare but the silly birds still ignored the ring!
I am waffling so have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of one. TAFF I hope you are soon lurgy-free and Dp1 I hope all goes well with the babe. Such a worry for you all. Take care everybody xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Cold and raining here a real miserable winters day, off to work for me but the weekend is looming.
Thank you all for the good wishes for dd we have not heard back from the police but hopefully will today, she has not heard from him since Tuesday but I dont think this will be the last we hear. We need to start sorting out about the house dd will phone in the next few days.
TA OH I am so excited about your puss cat I do hope you 'like' each other and she settles with you xxx (just seen she is missing, I do hope she turns up)
Nels I hope you get the job I have everything crossed for you x
Something with mince for dinner, because dd moved in so quickly I have very little quorn stuff in the house so we need to go and stock up on quorn bitsat the weekend, she will have something with pasta tonight.
DP1 I hope your dd and the baby are ok xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning and thanks NMLC.
Seems to be raining here, yesterday was v cold and windy but dry.
Sorry to hear about your little cat TA, hope she turns up. We've always been cat lovers, but when our last cat died 14 years ago, decided not to get another, because it's easier to go away if you don't have animals. If we've gone to Oz we are away for weeks.
We had a cat/cats for nearly 40 years. I would love another but it's not practical.
I didn't go out yesterday, I've hardly been out since Christmas!! I spent time sorting through my craft stuff, and putting Christmas themed items away, and general tidying, I threw odd bits and pieces out that I won't use, odd bits of card etc.
Then I started on my sewing stuff, but didn't finish, that's todays job.
Red Ruby, hope your daughter is all right, and the puppy - she did the right thing getting away from him.
Nelski, hope you get good news about the work you were pitching for.
Have a good day everyone - take care folks0 -
Good morning,
Yoga at lunch yesterday was good, but hard. Clearly still a bit rusty from taking a couple of weeks off. Left work relatively sharpish and made a nice healthy dinner. I was planning on going a run but a previous colleague alerted me to some job roles that have popped up that are suited to me, so I set about investigating them instead before joining some of the boys on the xbox for a bit.
Gym again this morning which I'm pleased about. Football training tonight, which will probably be tough given it's the first one back after the break. Also got my weekly catch up with my gran and I'll fill my remaining time applying to some of these jobs I seen.
camelot - Martin Lewis would be proud!
TA - Hope the cat turns up soon.
DP1 - Your DD and GDD are going through the mill at the moment. I'm hoping things improved during the night.0 -
Morning chums
TA Poor Sparkle I hope she comes back very soon then you can become her forever home. Hows bobi settling btw? x
Rubes I really hope the police are doing what they need to do and keeping the vile man away from your daughter. So glad shes safe with you x
scarlet I know what you mean about the hibernation since Christmas its the weather for me ...if I can I will stay in the warmth.
speky Keep up with all your fitness regimes please ....I am getting healthy just by reading all you do
nanny you are a top cheerleader and that little outfit looks very cute on you :rotfl:
Good day yesterday great course and some lovely delegates so made the sardine commuting worth while. Small scrap of news re the pitch ...my contact who wasn't at the meeting had spoken to her boss and it seems I got very good feedback ...she couldn't say anything else so all those crossed fingers are doing their jobs so thanks againNext week I have some office time and I am motivated now to get some more marketing done and hopefully get some new business this year. Last year I lost my sales mojo a bit to be honest and its time to get it back.
Mum day today .....nuff said really
Hope you all have a great day you deserve it :A0 -
Good Morning everyone although wet and very nasty outside I am a very happy great granny as my new little great granddaughter arrived at last, weighing in at 9.lbs 10 ozs by emergency C section last night, Mum and baby OK, as yet not been named but I have seen a photo and she looks a gorgeous wee pudding.
She was born on my late ma-in-laws birthday, so the same day as her gt,gt,granny but 114 years apart
I don't mind the rain today, just pleased she has arrived into the world safe and sound
Hopefully will be back later with a name
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -
Morning folks.
A late post from me, I was still awake at 1.00am and the woke at 4.00am for an hour. Even now I'm horizontal and sleepy. It's a horrid day outside so will not be going anywhere.
Yesterday's physio session was strenuous. She had me walking backwards, which is harder than imagined, walking sideways (both sides) and doing clams as well as slow walking. Now got a blue theraband to work with. I was very tired after it!
TA - how sad about Sparkle, I really hope she's found. I too had a lovely cat when I was a teen, loved her so much. Now, same as SCARLET it's easier to be animal free.
NELSKI - a wee hint of good news is tantalising.
CAMELOT. - well done on getting that refund :money:
I made a start on the pork loin last night, I've still got many meals with it ahead of me. :rotfl: There's still some red cabbage to use up and I bought a reduced pack of my favourite potatoes yesterday. I tend to not eat potatoes as a norm but really enjoy the Ratte variety. They're a close relation to Pink Firs.
Enough waffle, I must stir myself.
I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Thursday.
EDIT - just seen your post JACKIEO - congratulations to the family. A new baby is always a joy, now with the added bonus of matching birthdays. I wish baby and mum well.0 -
Good morning and a happy new Year from mehefinland ( I know its late but I haven't posted this year till now)
Well Xmas started with a bang - new mare got colic on xmas eve, so I spent a lot of time walking her around and stopping her from rolling while we awaited the vet. It seemed like eternity at the time. we called them out at 1610 and they got to us by 1700 which was pretty good under the circumstances. Charged us an extra £50 for the call out as it was 'out of hours'. I am going to challenge that bit.
Ds and the toxic troll honoured us with their presence after the festivities. Don't know why they bothered coming as they were hardly here, and when they were they were joined at the hip. Never had a private conversation as they were always together. Much biting of tongues..enough said. So Hotel mehefin was glad to see them go.
Hardly a word since then - don't even remember getting a thankyou for the birthday card/gifts.
Not a lot else going on atm so will wish you all well
Hugsa nd spoons as always

Hello again - I am returning with good news! But first congratulations to the JACKIE family. Exciting times!
Good news now! I have had a phone call from the fosterer and Sparkle turned up this morning, safe and sound after her little adventure!! So relieved. I said I hope this hasn't given her the wanderlust and she tries it again. On the contrary, she said, I think it has probably reminded her why she wants to be a house cat and prefers to stay safely indoors! I am now sorting out when I can meet her again!
SCARLET I have always been a cat person at heart. Whilst at home we had cats and when we got married one of the cats came with me! Bob was more a dog person but it was a case of take me take my cat! When puss died we then got a dog, then after we lost her 2 dogs. But in among we also had cats staying when both DS and DD came back home after life changes, with cats accompanying them!
NELSKI Bobbi is settling in too well! He already thinks he is the boss! He soon grasped that he had to use litter trays when roaming free out of his cage, Getting him back in his cage is no mean feat. He likes his freedom.
DS calling for lunch on his way to work so better go and delve in the freezer and see what I can feed him. I have been so excited letting everyone know about Sparkle's return I completely forgot! xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
