Opening current account and credit card at same time

Will opening a current account and applying for a new credit card around the same time affect my credit? If so, how long should I wait to apply for a new credit card after opening a new current account

Possibly. But (not being funny here) why do you care - are you intending to apply for something else quite soon?

New accounts often affect the "score" and several of them can affect your ability to get more credit, but the effect is temporary.

It all depends on your'e circumstances, if you have a good credit history with no recent ccj's or missed payments then it will have little or no effect even if you apply for them at the same time, also if you apply for them both at the same time the searches will not have been recorded to the cra's.

No that’s true I’m not planning to apply for anything else until the end of the year so it shouldn’t matter

Then you can relax. If you follow your "score" you will see it drop dramatically next month, but don't worry about it. Lenders can't see it anyway and two applications won't prevent you qualifiying for things at the end of the year.
