Stream to your old hifi - nil cost! Great sound.

Options
Well I thought I would upgrade to the new SONOS or similar system in my house. I have lots of old hifi of good quality, but wanted a streaming service to tap into endless music on offer. So I did some digging, and realised that the small amazon cheap Amazon Alexa speaker has an audio out jack....my son had one for xmas last year from a relative and got bored with it. (cost is only £22 online ANYWAY). A mini headphone jack to 2x RCA cable was found in the bottom of a dusty drawer (old tech, but handy), and I wired it up to my old amplifier and speakers. WHAT A SOUND !
I didn't realise that the Alexa thing collates your favourite songs when you tell it, and you can ask they be played. cool stuff.
So for the cost of nil, I have a great sound quality streaming service from amazon prime which I pay for anyway.......... ;););)

Are any of those units able to connect to router by wires? (Wifi gives me a headache.)

I used to plug my phone into the hifi via a jack/RCA cable. Now I've bought a Bluetooth receiver so I don't even have to plug it in any more.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • I think the more expensive Alexa and google speakers have router wires. But expensive I mean 80 or £90, not the hundreds of pounds that dedicated systems cost which seem to do pretty much the same

Indeed, I use my Echo dot to connect to an old Creative 2.1 surround sound system which had been sitting in the loft since I got rid of my old desktop PC.
