Currys PC World finance keeps taking wrong amount!

Ok, So I purchased TV from Currys PC World and used their "My Plan" finance on an 18 month,0% APR plan. One of the things we checked was that if we pay chunks off the TV, will our DD be reduced. The salesman said that was correct.
So I have made an additional £240 payment towards the TV, and when you do this you have the option of reducing the term, or reducing the monthly DD amount.
I selected to reduce the DD amount.

Now here is the problem. That was 4 months ago, and they continue to take out the original DD amount, not taking into account the additional £240 paid off.

Every month (3 times in total) I phone up, customer services have admitted its an error on their part and say they will send the request to the finance department to have it fixed, but every month they still take the incorrect amount in the DD

So what are my options? They have just taken the 4th incorrect mount.
Are they in breach of the finance agreement? Can I tell them to come and collect the TV as they are in breech of the agreement etc??
Me being polite to them hasn't fixed the problem :(

  • Why would they collect the TV ?

Yes they're in the wrong for taking the incorrect amount but presumably apart from that, everything else is fine.

Do you have to pay by DD? If they keep taking the wrong amount then why not arrange to pay by SO ?

That way you're keeping to the terms of the finance agreement and have control over the amounts being paid.

Why would you want them to collect a TV you have been paying for?

Why do you want them to collect the TV...

Yes its annoying, and I would definitely be keeping track of what you have paid to make sure you don't overpay, but I don't see it as a breach as you are still paying your contractual amount.

When you say you were given the option to reduce the DD or the term, what format was that? Ob the online payment form or something?

Slightly baffled why you want to pay 'chunks' off on a 0% deal anyway? Stick it in a savings account. I know rates are low but better than nothing.

Yes, via the online portal for my account. It shows what I have paid etc.

Regarding them taking back the TV, It looks like such a trivial matter to guys reading it on a forum, but when you have to phone them up every month because they have taken the wrong amount, and spent 20 mins a time on the phone with them promising to sort it, only for it to happen again, and again, and again...
I just want to shove that 55" thing straight up their !!!! tbh :(

And if the situation were reversed, and I wasn't paying them enough each month, I'm sure they would be making much more of a fuss than I am lol

Some people want to pay off their outstanding debts as soon as possible so it's not hanging over them should their circumstances change and maybe the OP is one of these people.

So, if you want to pay it off as quick as possible, surely reducing the term and keeping the DD at its normal level will achieve that quicker...
  • Wouldnt you want them to reduce the length of the loan rather then the DD amount if you wanted to clear is sooner?

But if they took the TV away you'd only get a refund of its used value, which would perhaps be much less than you've already paid.

Take a deep breath, persevere with them but in the meantime, be pleased that you're paying off the debt even faster than you'd planned to.
