Been fighting debts for years, them going down and then going up with various unexpected bills.
A week into this year setting myself targets.
1. Clear what debt is left £1750. Did start at nearly 14K
2. Unfortunately Clutch went on car this week need to pay off £500, not a great start to new year, hating being without a car, looks like a whole week of walkies.
3. Save set up 3 savings pots, with the intention of saving 10K, hefty challenge as I don't get great wages but finished my mortgage last year and my bosses want to retire in 2 years time so I need some cash to fall back on, as I won't get a state pension to 67 or 75 if this government has its way. I am 60 now. Happy to carry on working if still healthy.
4. Get fitter and lose some weight. Setting target at 2 stone. I don't do fad diets, happy to do more exercise and eat healthier.
5. De clutter. Amazing how much stuff I have collected in the 10 years been in this house. Aim for 30 items a month and stop agreeing to other peoples stuff donate to me. I dont need it.
6. Have a holiday this year time to treat myself kinder.:p
7. Take up some hobbies, sport. Chatting to someone realise I do nothing for me. Grandkids, children spend a lot of time doing things with them. Going to do what makes me happy:rotfl:
Well happy to report garage phoned and my car is ready:T just £500 to find oh and where the garage is the RAC took it there :rotfl: That's me staying in this month, and eating from the freezer and cupboards.
Onwards and upwards:D

Happy new diary to you!
I'm in a similar position where I will probably have to retire when my boss decides to retire...it's scary not being in control but fortunately (?) he has more debt than I do so he's in no rush at the moment!Credit Card debt £10247.17 1/1/20200 -
Hello you!
Happy new diary.
Love your goals and sorry to hear about the car.
Mine is in on Friday for a service, supposed to be November but had a lot going on so missed it. Hoping it doesn't need much doing tbh or at least it can hold off till my MOT is due on the 24th January, least I'll have been paid again then!

I like to be control and not knowing few years down the line if I will be having any money coming in it does worry me. Not prepared to re mortgage my house but if it comes down to it, might not have the option.
Fingers crossed for both of usLBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -

Good luck with the service dolly. I paid £500 yesterday for new clutch and booked it in for new cam belt £350 in 2 weeks time. Thats my debts to clear this year gone up already, not even got to second week yet. Playing safe if the cambelt goes can damage the whole engine, mine is 8 years overdue a change:rotfl:LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
£50 paid off debts today.:p
Yesterday annoyed I spent £50 on getting my hair cut and roots dyed. I could have saved myself some pennies then. Nevermind next month back to doing my roots myself.:(
Agreed to a drink out tonight with a mate, think he is thinking it's a date. Would much prefer a night in but I did cancel last time on him, having a bad chest.
It was part of my NY resolutions to go out more anyway wasn't expecting big car expense this month.
It's the weekend so need to snap out of grump feeling. I always struggle with January to be honest, lack of daylight, memories of losing my sister to dementia, few years ago and spending too much time on my own.
So this year I started volunteering some Sundays with lunch for homeless, lot of lovely volunteers, made friends with already and I plan to get outside a lot more at weekends, weather permitting for walks.
Lovely day today will try to make my step goal for today.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Aw it's hard enough in January without the added memories of your Sister, sending hugs.
How was your night out?
Love that you have started volunteering, it's something I would consider when I have the time for sure.

Dolly my night out didn't happen he bailed on me this time. He ended up working late. Tried rearranging but might not be until next week as he plays in a band so busy at weekends and works shifts. This ain't going happen:rotfl:
Saturday - free event with grandkids and came armed with flasks and food. No spending involved.
Sunday - deep cleaned house and then went to help at charity. Very rewarding experience. Unfortunately someone who came each week, taken their own life. I did make an extra effort to chat to most people after hearing that bombshell. So many lonely people about.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Oh that is so shocking.
What terrifies me is that we hear more and more of it now, or is it just that due to Social Media etc we are able to hear of it whereas we might not have known previously.
