Hi All,
Can anybody offer any comments please.
Saturday 4th January my partner noticed an Amber warning on the dash indicating an engine malfunction. Too late to contact the Ford dealer, she contacted the RAC who visited on Sunday the 5th. Their (RAC) diagnostic kit revealed: "DTC: P007C,Turbocharger (TC) intercooler temperature sensor , bank 1 - circuit low" On Monday 7th the vehicle was in the dealership and could not find any fault as the codes had been reset by the RAC. Dealership did nothing other than clean the car!.
I would have thought at the very least the Dealership should have changed the sensor as an intermittent fault is present. The Ecosport is under Ford warranty until March.
What should I do - To replace out of warranty is going to cost my partner £250+
Regards,
Mike.

Thats the problem with DTC - it only points in the direction of an error not exactly what the error is. what would the point be in changing the sensor if its a problem with the wiring or a problem with the ECU that reads the sensor. It can be a bad move to rip out and replace sensors just on the back of an error code.0

Yes I agree. Clearly there is something wrong, but it should not be left as an intermittent failure. A potential problem out of warranty0

Do you have a photo of the fault code or paperwork? Try another dealer, how long have you had the car? Have you tried the dealer you purchased it from and claim under CRA?0

Send the dealership an e-mail detailing exactly what has happened and the date that the car went in for repair/investigation and ask them what will happen if the sensor does fail in the near future and make sure that you keep a copy of that mail.
That way, should the problem reoccur when the car is out of warranty, you will be able to prove that the fault was originally reported within the warranty period.0 -
Some dealers will fix problems if the car is just out of warranty as a goodwill gesture.
You can always extend the manufacturers warranty for another year after the 3 years new car warranty expires. Or you can take out a 3rd party warranty just to cover you.
If the part fails you can have it replaced by an independent garage, their rates are often cheaper than main dealer costs.
My friend's ecosport engine light came on due to the battery draining when stood. He only uses the car once or twice a week. The car's security system was draining the battery.
Could be worth checking the battery condition.
Take the car for a good run if it doesn't get used much.
The stop-start batteries are quite expensive though and not covered by the warranty.0 -
Yes I have the RAC report. During the time the warning was amber the car performed as normal0
