Unable to Balance Transfer an Amazon Card

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this issue. I recently took out a Sainsbury's card for the premise of balance transferring my existing balance on my Amazon card over to my new Sainsbury's account.

There didn't look to be anything untoward in this, I head read that there had been issues with AMEX accounts being transferred but didn't foresee any issue.

I tried online to balance transfer and it didn't work, I called in and was the advised that Sainsbury's dont accept balance transfers from Amazon credit cards.

Left in a bit of a situation where ideally I'd like to get this resolved but was wondering if anyone knew of any banks which would accept a transfer from an Amazon credit card.

Cheers,
N

    All of them.

But Sainsburys seem to have problems with everything these days.
  • thanks, I'll try and get another credit card and start the proceedings again.

    thanks,

Did Sainsburys Bank offer any explanation of why? The Amex problems are caused by the card number but the New Day issued Amazon cards are Mastercards with normal 16 digit numbers so can't really see why there should be a problem.

How long have you had the amazon card?

If it is a Newday one. I would ring Sainsburys back and say that you want to transfer from a newday card. They really do not need to know which brand it is.

Only issue I can see is if the Sainsburys card is provided by Newday.

  • Hey Ben,

No real reason why, they stated that they just don't do it from Amazon which I thought was odd. I had seen there are some issues should a card only have 15 digits but the Amazon one has 16.

Needless to say I swiftly cancelled my Sainsbury's card, called up another bank and clarified if they'd accept it to the response of, if it's got 16 digits we will accept a balance transfer.

Interested to see if anyone else experiences this issue.

    Yes, they have.

But that doesn't really matter, as long as you've found a solution.
  • I balance transferred my Amazon card balance to a Tesco Card last July, with no issues.
