What has been your experience of using Peer 2 Peer car hire sites such as Turo,com or Getaround?

I would like to reduce my motoring costs by getting ride of my car. There isn't a car club in my area and taxi rates are high. Are these Peer 2 Peer sites the best alternative for occasional car use?

I would just take a taxi, how high can a couple of taxi rides be when you need them against renting a car?

I'd assume the peer 2 peer is going to be short term use - whilst someone else is at work/home. It's probably a bit of an unknown in terms of cars and locations, if you've not got any car clubs are there any p2p cars?


How often do you think you'll actually need a car? You can hire them from something silly like £10/day from the usual chains.

Pretty sure there are some old threads about P2P car hire and the pitfalls.

Someone may thrash your car to bits, owner has an emergency and needs to keep the car one the day/time you booked it for.

Lots of issues.

Who is mad enough to let me thrash their car for a few hours?
