probably a stupid question about using L shaped shelving brackets

Hi

Probably a dumb question but if your using steel L shaped shelving brackets with the measurements 8 x 10 (200mm x 250mm), does it matter whether its the long side or the short side that you attach to the wall. In this case a masonry wall.

Thanks for any replies.
