Faulty outside of warranty

I saved and eventually brought a side by side American fridge freezer with ice machine - (Oct 18) in Nov 19 it stopped working - I googled and troubleshooted from manual and online - got mechanically minded people to check - no joy - spoke to AO on Twitter they said ‘out of warranty but we sympathise’ Suggested speaking to Stoves then come back to them - spoke to Stoves they said £140 for parts and repair - I paid £999 for this slightly over a year ago!!!!! Surely it’s not acceptable for something to malfunction so soon - even if it is out of warranty- I know things have to be of metchantantable quality and I do t think last 1 year after paying a grand is fair!!!£140 is a lot of money!! Plus why should I pay it?! I said I’m not happy but I don’t know what to do next - AO offered me £30 towards the repair- surely I can do something? 1 grand for 1 year it’s not right :( sorry for ranting it make me so cross

Forget the warranty, if it has expired then that is that.

Your consumer rights however may provide a remedy against the retailer if the problem is inherent and was present when purchased (i.e. a manufacturing issue). To prove this however you would need to get a independent report that states the reason for the fault and that is inherent.
