i watched on the MLMS about energy suppliers are not allowed to back bill after 12 months where do i stand seeing as the direct debit payments have been made each month and what steps should i take

No bills issued for 2 years most certainly puts your account within the realms of a claim for " Back-billing" relief.
This rule protects customers from BILL SHOCK where a supplier fails to supply bills for over 12 months, and prevents the supplier billing for any energy supplied prior to the12 months before they did manage to produce a bill.
BUT
As you have been paying out your D/Debits for the this entire 2 year period, there is little or no Bill Shock and the accumulated credit will be set against the bill when you get one.
Only if the D/Debits don't cover the bill for the first year, can you claim Back Billing relief on the difference
Forget the phone & Emails - WRITE a letter to Avro heading it Complaint0
