We don't even know what the OP's situation is. There's a guess at it being multiple titles (multiple CT/poss even some BR?) behind a single transaction, but... <shrug>
Apparently HMRC have guidance, but it's a bit complicated. Maybe we could help translate it and apply it to the OP's situation, but... <shrug>0 -
My understanding is that the process is you write to HMRC with evidence of what has been paid and evidence that there is more than one dwelling (using their definition of dwelling to ensure you don't trip up) and then they write back with a cheque within a few months or ask you for further clarification. i have not done this but i have looked at the process.
The test has nothing to do with how many legal titles there are. it hinges on whether the annex is a separate dwelling.0
