Payment by Viagogo into wrong bank account

Hi there,
I've been having real struggles with getting paid by Viagogo for a ticket sale for Muse at the London o2 back in September. Having been through the drama of using their customer service web functionality, they eventually emailed me today with a screenprint/document as 'proof of payment'. As I suspected, they paid the monies owed to me to the wrong bank account number!
So today I have formally made a data subject access request (DSAR) under GDPR to ascertain where they got this bank account number from (same sort code). I'm pretty certain that it isn't as a result of my miskeying the a/c number on their website as it's 2 digits out (and I'm pretty OCD when it comes to typing out my banks details:eek:).
Any other suggestions about how I can force them into paying me what I am owed much appreciated??

I usually take screen shots of important things.
On a PC, Vivaldi and Firefox web browsers offers the ability to take a whole page shot, including parts that are off the visible screen area.
I imagine Viagogo's processes are pretty automated. I doubt they have a team of people retyping bank account details that have already been entered by customers.
Not all bank account numbers and sort code combinations are valid. Of those that are, most haven't been allocated.
You can check if a sort code and account number combination are potentially valid here: https://www.sortcodes.co.uk/.
If the bank account the money was sent to doesn't exist the payment should bounce back to Viagogo.0 -
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, Viagogo said "After the investigation was made we can confirm, we have paid you for your sale xxxxxxxx on 21/09/2019. The payment was accepted by your bank on 23/09/2019."
So it's check-mate and my word against theirs at the moment...as I say - I'm pretty sure I wouldnt have mis-keyed my a/c details. However, even if I had then I still think there is a right to have the payment reversed.0 -
The bank details would have gone straight from your computer into their database, any errors would have come from you. Do you not have a viagogo account where you can check the bank details.
If the bank account you have entered is a valid one then the recipient will have to be asked to return the money, they do not have to return it.
If it is not a valid account then the money should get returned to Viagogo. One would hope that they would then contact you to clarify your details but who knows what processes they have in place to capture this kind of thing.0 -
Just checked the link SnowTiger kindly provided and it is a valid sort code/bank account no combination so someone out there will have received a random payment into their account.
Thanks Jono - I'm holding out hope that the data request will show what was keyed/captured when I placed the sale. As I say, the a/c number seems a bit too incorrect but I guess it's quite possible I have miskeyed it but I don't know if that should be the end of the matter. I'll definately be more careful in future0 -
Why are you having to enter a bank account? They should be refund the credit back to the card it was taken from.Life in the slow lane0

It was paid (to the wrong a/c no) by BACS payment....0

Viagogo's process is to pay by BACS directly to your bank a/c for tickets that you sell via their site. Therefore, they need your sort code and bank a/c number.0

Ah. I thought it was a refund from them.
In that case they need to contact the bank to reclaim the funds.
Even though you gave them the wrong acc details.
Why do people use Viagogo, given all the problems they cause. Constantly breaking consumer regulations.Life in the slow lane0
