Hi,
I plan on moving into my brothers house. The problem is he always fails to pay council tax and bills etc (he has no money issues he just is really badly organised)
by moving in with him will it have a negative effect on my credit rating as I imagine his address is a bit of a flag
thank you

No. Credit files are not linked to addresses, they are linked to people.
The only way it would affect you is if there is a financial relationship between you. Are you named on any of the bills? Will you be named on them?"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0 -

Credit rating is seen by only you, lenders etc see your history.0 -
My flatmate is notorious about disagreeing with the cost of council tax. Needless to say that is one bill that comes out of my account!
Can you not do something similar with the bills and have him pay you 50% towards them?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
Thank you
No I won't be on any bills. the only thing I'll be linked with is the address.
That's what I thought but I've seen a few issues people have had being linked to an address and sharing a surname with that person so I just wanted to check
Thanks again0 -

I won't be named on anything as he is not asking me to pay any bills (I did him a massive favour years ago and this is him returning the favour as I'm trying to save for a deposit for a place of my own)0 -

Do you have a similar name to your brother? There have been stories on here before of people who have a messed up credit rating because they're named after their Dad and stay at the same house, so there are two folk with the same name / address.
There was one a couple of years back about a guy with the same name as all his brothers!"Facism arrives as your friend. That's usually the case with mistaken identity on behalf of the CRAs, rather than a linked address.
