Only asked to Change payment date!

Hi wonder if you can help me or advice
Been with co op car insurance years and renewal was last July and on December 29th I wanted to change payment date from 8th to 14th they did it and told me the price could change as the policy would have to be changed because of the date change but not sure how much so me thinking it was a couple of days didn’t think would be much different in price
However received the paperwork and the price till the next renewal has gone from £41 to £72 !? I asked how they said coz of ratings but then they said I could cancel the policy and do a new one at £46 I’m really not happy that I’m paying in 7 months what I pay in a year but the to cancel and Renew is cheaper how do they get these figures and do I have any chance of arguing the case more to get it back to my original payment price even though they say they followed procedures and no way of it being changed and if it’s to do with rating why’s is so much cheaper to renew but double to continue it’s not like they ring you to say your insurance has doubled we need to charge you more if I hadn’t of changed the date of payment nothing would be affected but they have no explanation for me!
Many thanks
Many thanks

Remember - you buy your car insurance annually, and then take out a finance product to pay the annual premium monthly (plus interest and fees).

Changing the payment date part-way through that finance is not necessarily going to be straightforward, no. They seem to be telling you that the only solution is to cancel the insurance behind it, which will cost you cancellation fees etc.

By far and away the easiest solution is to just live with it, especially given you're only wanting to move the date less than a week. We're only talking about forty quid a month - is your budget really THAT tight?
