Hi, does anyone have experience with buying shares on the NEX Exchange?
The company i want to invest with are on there but i know very little about it.
AJ Bell don't trade on there, nor do Barclays as i have checked with them and they don't, despite NEX listing them as a broker
Any help would be greatly appreciated

You may not be suited to investing in early stage companies requiring lots of investigation and analysis.Fragglekin wrote: »Hi, does anyone have experience with buying shares on the NEX Exchange?

Have you heard of 'Google'? Look here.
Can only go on what NEX page lists.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True

Why would i not be suited?
Thanks, looked on Google, wasn't helpful. Nevermind0 -

Because very few people are. And most of the people who are would get their wealth manager or family office to buy the shares and wouldn't ask on MSE. So asking how to buy NEX shares on MSE increases the odds that you aren't suited.0 -
Everyone needs to start somewhere. Thanks so much for your unhelpful comment0

Well, if you've looked at google and couldn't find any useful information, I'd probably agree that you might not be best suited to the demands of researching equity investment opportunities in thinly-traded stocks with low liquidity and wide spreads which are listed or traded on a small exchange. No offence intended.Fragglekin wrote: »Everyone needs to start somewhere. Thanks so much for your unhelpful comment
I agree we all start somewhere. Why do you want to start with NEX? The top 10 NEX-traded securities by value in December had an aggregate transaction value of £2,952,805 across all the trades in the 10 companies put together. Whereas on the main London stock exchange in December there was about a hundred billion quid worth of trades on the electronic UK order book - over a trillion a year (not counting the hundred billion of equity/commodity derivatives a month, or the hundred trillion a year of MTS Repo trading), and so on. On something like the more popular NASDAQ exchange, Apple alone had over $13 billion of trades just yesterday.
So if you are looking for a 'we all have to start somewhere' venue, there are certainly trading venues which are more popular and well-researched, even if the particular company in which you were initially interested is not available.
Companies which have the credibility to raise capital from mainstream sources and the cashflows to comply with comprehensive listing rules which offer some level of transparency to prospective investors, generally don't pick NEX as their listing venue of choice. So people here won't be as familiar with NEX.0 -
Thank you for this, your comment does help.
Yes the company i want to invest with is on NEX, which to be honest, I'd not heard of until i decided to invest which has been very frustrating. The list Barclays as a broker but after speaking to them they aren't.
I'm not talking a huge amount to invest. If i lost it it wouldn't be the end of the world. Write it up to experience and move on.
I just wanted more info on NEX as like i said, there's not much out there on it.
Maybe the company I'm interested in will move, i don't know. I will keep my eye on them. Their parent company is on the main stock exchange.
Anyway, I'll leave it there and do some more research. Thank you for your help0 -
What is the company you are looking to invest in?
They may have either a dual listing or ADR which might make easier for you to invest."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett
