EDF Easy Online June20
Options
Hi everyone.
As per the title, I've been with EDF for dual fuel electric & gas for nearly 2 years.
I started out on the Online Saver Apr19 tariff and when that ended last year I signed up for the Easy Online Jun20 tariff, which is what I'm currently on now until the end of June this year.
I'm having problems with EDF and their billing.
For the last year, despite me giving them regular meter readings through their app and with them taking the direct debit payments each month, they've only been issuing a bill once every 6 months, or when I've badgered them for one in their Live Chat system.
That was only a problem for me because they would keep trying to raise the direct debit amounts during the winter, despite my account building up to over £700 in credit. With haggling, they'd then agree to lower the direct debit back to the £85 I'd already been paying them.
The last time I spoke to them to lower the direct debit was December. They've raised it again this month (I'm still in credit). I've just requested the lower payment amount again.
The other problem I have with their bills are that I've just noticed that the unit rate and daily standing charge has been creeping up with each bill. Are they allowed to change the unit price and standing charge while I'm still signed up to a tariff?
Hope all that makes sense

As the name suggests the price is guaranteed until 30 June 2020, so only government action (e.g. the VAT rate) should be able to change it.0

It's the same pattern for the previous year on the other contract I'd had before this one0 -
The new figures are 5% higher.
It's a Very Awful Tariff !0 -
10Thumbs - As Gerry1 is saying the latter bills are showing it as VAT included whereas the earlier one had VAT as a separate item.
Do you only get bills 6 months apart ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Do you only get bills 6 months apart ?
I was with EDF for a good few years until April last year, 6-monthly billing is quite normal for them. It was a bit of a culture shock moving away from them as any co. other than big-6 seem to bill monthly AND in advance...billing overkill IMHO, but then I suppose the smaller companies are far more reliant on cashflow and estimating future useage than EDF....
...actually, I think you've got to be more aware of your energy useage when billed infrequently. With all my years with big-6 suppliers, I've never ever had a debit balance or estimated bills - first 3 months with bulb (until meter reads/billing days/DD dates were all aligned to suit their system) were all estimates as their systems are just not flexible enough to cope with not having set number of days between reads/bill/DD......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Thanks guys. Yes it was vat that I'd missed! You're quite right, the rates haven't changed, just the way I'd read it between bills. Case closed
Just got to keep pestering then to stop putting my direct debits up0
