This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks and thanks BTDT for the new thread. The strong winds have downsized to a gentle breeze, according to the wm. Hope it's the same for everybody.
I actually had a good sleep last night. That'll be it for another six months I suppose! Meeting my oldest friend this morning as per usual for a Tuesday. Couple of coffees (or raspberry tea) followed by lunch, with much chattering in between. The cheesy broccoli bake wasn't up to standard last week (a bit cleggy) so it won't be that this week!
I made a start on the black hole under the stairs yesterday afternoon, breaking off to do the shredding stored under there, and that took forever. So a promise to myself not to let it mount up so much again! (I may have said that before!!)
Sachet of pea and ham soup out defrosting, to have with a ham salad wrap when I start to feel a bit peckish after my lunch. A no cooking day.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need. Any news of the baby JACKIE? Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning All
Stormy out this morning, hope the roads are ok.
Big hugs to you and DD RR.
Running a bit late this morning, could have stayed in bed today but work calls, must get back to swimming but it's hard when it's so cold and dark!
Nothing much happening here apart from the fridge had a good sort out last night, I'm ashamed!
Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks.
It's nasty outside here with the 'promise' of worse to come. Think I'll be staying indoors today.
Before my hospital visit yesterday I did a small shop, just milk and fruit. I picked up Alan on the way, mostly for confidence as I was driving through rush hour and when it was getting dark.
The surgeon was really pleased with my progress. He reassured me that the wobbling gait will disappear eventually as long as I do the physio!
The cleaner is coming today. DM's usual one is starting back on 06th February so just three weeks to go. Although the new one is fine it'll be good to have the usual one back.
Fridge still well stocked, I've stashed away the boxes of Christmas chocolates and brought out the leftover panettone which needs eaten.
Now I wish everyone a very happy Tuesday.0 -
Hi everyone,
I hope you are well.
Redruby, I'm glad DD left her toxic partner, I hope he slinks off into the undergrowth now.
Speky, I'm glad you had a good Christmas, any more plans to see the girl you had a couple of dates with?
Laura and Brian came back on Monday night but are going home this morning. They are trying to get Esben into a routine of bathtime, last feed in a darkened room and bed by 11.30. He seems to be co-operating and sleeping at least 5 hours and then another 3 after a quick feed. They're a bit worried because he sleeps in a hammock device that dips ad sways with his movement but he has to be moved when he can roll over and they think he may not sleep as well in a static cot.
I need to buy a card for sister-in-law as it's her birthday on Saturday and also to reinstate my sewing room. I've been preparing some things for sewing as soon as my machine is back in place. Steve has been touching up some of the paintwork here and we want to repaint out bedroom. After spending time doing up the Yorkshire house we want to expend some of that energy on our own living space.0 -

redruby I'm sorry this has happened to your DDI'm glad she and the pup are safely with you xx
Good luck today Nels
I've done an online shop, it'll be here on thursday. I wanted to wait another week and just buy fruit locally for now. But the stuff at the local shop is pitiful so I won't bother going there. There's an independent pet food shop which starting selling fruit, veg and flowers last year so I thought I'd give them a try, the food is very fresh but the range is tiny, so it looks like I'm stuck with supermarkets for now. I've ordered lots of milk, bread, fruit, veg, a few cleaning bits and toiletries, nothing for the freezer except for my favourite pizza which I'll enjoy on friday
I have two 10% off when you spend £20 vouchers for Iceland, they need using before 21st January so we'll head there next friday to make use of those.
I had a bag of paperwork dropped off to me last night, that'll keep me busy today. I have a bit of housework to do but it won't take longer than half an hour. Scamp is being a little angel, I think he's relieved that everything has gone back to normal after the last couple of months of his routine being disrupted

Good morning everyone,
Dark, cold, dreary morning. Nonetheless, I got up at 5am for what is probably my final facetime call to my step-bro in South Korea as he due to come home next week! He's coming with his daughter but not his wife, as our immigration laws are so tight that she needs to wait another 6 months - at least. So it's mostly good news I suppose.
I went to the gym this morning as I went yesterday after work and I've never seen it so busy. It was off putting it was that busy actually. It'll die down in the coming few weeks. I also had yoga last night for the first time in 2 or 3 weeks which was very difficult but all the more rewarding at the end.
I don't have many plans for tonight, which is the first for a few weeks, so I think I'll make the most of it. Beef broccoli stir fry for dinner.
And I forgot to update you about the girl had some dates with (thanks snoozer for the reminder). I saw her again on Sunday night, which was the only time which suited us both despite it being a school night. It was her turn to come through to me so she got the train, we had a couple of drinks and went to a local Italian which was nice. Her last train was at 9.30 and when we got there, it had been cancelled! So I shipped her off in an Uber that came to £58 but she sent me the money for it despite me offering to split it. Anyway, that was date number 3 and I'm still trying to figure out how I feel, I'm thinking we should go do some sort of activity thing, like mini golf or something like that, a bit more informal. To be continued.
TA - I read your 'wm' acronym as washing machine and I genuinely thought you had a fancy one which would tell you the weather outside!! hahaha!!
Gers - Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery. Keep up the hard work.0 -
Good morning everyone
Beautiful red sky here again. Must be a lot of worried shepherds!
Supermarket shop today. First proper one since before Christmas. We've been eating out of freezer and cupboards, just bitting and bobbing for fresh stuff. I haven't checked, but I don't feel as if it saved any money at all. Still, back to normal today.
DD is coming for tea after work so that will be good. Other than that, still got to finish the llama. I'm not much good at crochet so keep putting it off, but I've promised myself not to start anything else until it's done.
Hope it's not too blowy for everyone today0 -
Morning all, dogwalking done but now it looks like it might drizzle again.I've decided I'm going to go off on a bus trip to another town in a bit, just for a change. There is a market so I may pick up some fruit and a few bits.
DGD came for a couple of hours yesterday, back at school today. Not sure whats for tea tonight, we had the leftover beef yesterday, from Sunday, with mash and greens.
Speky, the trains are awful round here at the moment, what a shame.
Snoozer - hope Esben soon settles into his routine.
Gers,glad they're pleased with you.
Right better get ready - have a good day all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
