Both my dad and now my husband both worked/work with asbestos

Why didn't you get a professional company in to sort it out?

Yes I do know it just needed plastering over but obviously the plasterer didn't understand about asbestos, did you question him? Ask him how he was planning on carrying out the work?

I also have worked in a building where the asbestos was leaking, a girlfriend of mine was raising hens in an old barn on her land with damaged asbestos. It happens that we are often more exposed to it then we should be

as before, only you can decide the risk of staying there tonight and every night till you get it cleaned, Its not going to be cheap and its not going to be quick. I think you need to ring your insurance company for assistance

Because white asbestos does not need a license to deal with it which means that plasterers can (and spend most of their life) plastering over. We told him it was asbestos in the walls of 2 rooms and the ceiling of one room, so he said for the rooms the safest option is to board over but as the ceiling artex was shallow he could just skim over it. He didn't mention anything about needing to have to chop bits off.

Where did you stay in the end? Have you found someone to come and inspect ASAP?

Personally I'd clean it up myself. Wearing proper protective gear and using a hired vaccuum (class H) and then bagging and sealing all waste and then taking a shower.

The type of asbestos that is possibly in artex isn't the highest risk.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

    Edit: situation now sorted

    Why do people do this?!?

Just because it is sorted for you, the information could still be useful to other people.

My guess is that it hasn't been sorted at all, but OP didn't get the advice they wanted.
