Open a new one with a third bank then switch that, or just a 2nd one with your current bank. But will probably need to do some jiggerypokery with DD's0

Sure. Just open a donor account and switch that one, having made sure it fulfills all the requirements for the switch offer. Search the forum for 'donor'.0

Why? Have HSBC now removed the SO option from the incentive T&Cs?Open a new one with a third bank then switch that, or just a 2nd one with your current bank. But will probably need to do some jiggerypokery with DD's
EDIT: No, still there...which means its a very easy £175 with a donor account.0 -

Dunno thought it was 2 DD's needed?0 -
thanks all. i think i am going to open a donor account and set up 2 standing orders to myself and then i will switch that account only. this will mean the account i want to save will be saved, thank you so much.
just one thing, opening a donor account, will it be a hard credit check? and wouldnt hsbc notice that i have just opened this account and want to switch, i hope they do not decline the account.
or maybe it will be worth opening an account with hsbc first and then a donor account and then start the switch process0 -
probably. It doesn't really matter, though, unless you are about to apply for a huge loan, too.confusedftb wrote: »just one thing, opening a donor account, will it be a hard credit check?
HSBC are very picky, anyway, regardless of what your credit file says. Unless you are working in the respective HSBC department, it's impossible to know what criteria they use to assess your application. You just have to try.confusedftb wrote: »and wouldnt hsbc notice that i have just opened this account and want to switch, i hope they do not decline the account.
May be, may be not. You might run out of time for the offer if you don't have the donor account ready to go. HSBC themselves can take ages to open your account but I have seen posts that suggest the switch offer clock starts ticking on application day.confusedftb wrote: »or maybe it will be worth opening an account with hsbc first and then a donor account and then start the switch process0 -
so i have managed to open a hsbc advance account.
now the trouble is in opening a donor account. any idea which ban lets you open an account very quickly?
i currently bank with tsb? will they let me open another account without going through another credit check?0 -
Monzo or Starling are open once you apply.
As to TSB. All you can do is apply.Life in the slow lane0 -
Previously I opened a TSB Classic account- at that time I already held TSB Classic +.
It looks like you can easily apply online, which is what I did.
A few months later I switched the Classic.....Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

so i opened a tsb account, which was not linked to my main account because i had to apply separately and somehow tsb's systems did not notice that i am registering for internet banking with the same e-mail. or even if they did, the accounts were not merged to be shown on a same page.
now my dilemma is different. i have been with my current bank tsb, previously lloyds, but the branch i had account it changed to tsb, since 2008. now i am not sure about few things,
is hsbc a good bank?
is it better than tsb?
what will happen to my credit history?
so confusing.
