Car not starting

Hi I hope this is an appropriate forum to ask for help on this. I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere, the nearest garage or shop is an hours walk away, I don't know any mechanics or mobile ones. Battery is good. Its a hdi diesel engine.
It will turn over and fire for a sec then cut out immediately. After that not firing at all unless you wait 10 mins or so, but again its not running. I checked all fuses in drivers side footwell. I took battery off then on again. I have an OBD scanner and its showing fault codes P0403 EGR Control circuit and P0510. : -Closed Throttle Position Switch. Are they related to the non start?
I've not been able to do much today as it been very windy and heavy rain a lot of the day. Not thinking all that rain in the engine bay would be good. It is dry in there though I don't think it is damp wet related.
The other thing I suspect is a fuel fault, maybe fuel pump it sits inside the fuel tank under the rear seats. though I replaced that about 10 years ago, but I know they go. I can hear it priming and pumping when you turn on the ignition, as normal though, but perhaps the pressure is low. I hear the ECU needs a certain psi there for it to work. I'm techy but don't work on cars that often, so anyone who knows a bit I'd appreciate any suggestions very gratefully. Before I have to walk off an hour for help. I haven't got any starter fluid with me and I've never had to use it before anyway. I also hear there they are not so good for a diesel. Thanks in advance.

If it can't read where the throttle is, then it wont start.
Could also be immobiliser issue.
Would help people if you provided some car details.
I would suggest looking for a brand specific forum. As issues like this can crop up often and be a well documented fix.Life in the slow lane0 -
If I were stuck in the middle of nowhere, I’d. call the RAC or AA rather than post on the Internet. However, it takes all sorts.0

Uber will come and pick you up and a mechanic might be able to drive you back to the car tomorrow. Good luck. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Depends if you like getting your hands dirty.
I would try Disconnecting the EGR Valve and try starting, it may start in "safe" mode. May Identify bad EGR Valve
Also Remove the fuel filter housing and top up with fuel and pop the housing back on and see if that starts the car. May Identify bad fuel pump.0 -
Hi
There is no Uber, AA or RAC where I am. I don't have any diesel here to try the fuel filter. I finally managed to get someone to tow me to a garage. The guy reckoned the car was out of fuel and that the high pressure pump was shot. I don't think he knows what he is talking about or just didn't look at it because I have half a tank of fuel by the gauge. I know the gauge isn't lying because I only put 40 quid in there just before xmas and I hadn't used the car since.
Since he is wrong about the fuel I don't think he is right about the fuel pump. Oh and he quoted 450 labour to fit a new pump plus parts 600 or a recon is cheaper. On a 20 year old car with other faults , that is not worth it. But I don't think it is the pump could be something simple. He did not demonstrate what he found he was going out. So the car is towed back. I need a decent mechanic and there are none around here it seems0
