A computer can be a powerful music-making tool when combining recordings from different instruments and vocals. Computeractive has teamed up with M-Audio to offer four lucky readers everything they need to start recording and producing music.

The first prize winner will receive a pack worth £1,100. The Fast Track Pro USB audio interface takes care of capturing audio for the computer. It can record from two mics or instruments at the same time, and capture Midi data. An Axiom 61 Midi keyboard has trigger pads for drums and rotary controls for changing settings such as panning or synth parameters. The sliders can be used to control the volume of the keyboard or other tracks playing from the computer.

The Luna microphone can be used for recording vocals or instruments and the Studiophile BX8a monitor speakers make sure you can hear the final mix properly. Bringing all this together is the Pro Tools M Powered software that works on both Windows and Mac. It can record up to 32 tracks of audio and edit them at better quality than CDs. A Mobile Laptop Studio Bag makes sure that there is no risk of damage when on the move.

Three runners-up will win prizes from the Make Music Now range. The Fast Track Session USB interface can record from microphones and guitars and comes with guitar and mic input with Session software. A Keystudio Midi keyboard can be used to play sounds on the computer and comes with a grand piano sound on board. Audio recording is taken care of with a Soundcheck microphone and the Studiophile AV4 powered speakers let you hear whatÕs been recorded. Each of these bundles is worth £293.

Question: How many audio tracks can the Pro Tools M Powered software record?
