Covert gas unit to kwh costing.
If i use for example 5 units a day =55.9339 kwh.
My gas tariff is 2.960 per day, standing charge 11.204 per day both including vat.
Do i times 2.960 x 55.9339 + 11.204 for a days cost?
Not a accurate figure but would that be around £1.80 per day or am i way off?

your tariff will be 2.96p/kWh but otherwise your estimation is accurate.
Presumably the meter is recording in m3, and the cubic meter to kWh conversion is slightly variable due to gas pressure and calorific value of the gas which changes day to day.
Also winter use will be significantly higher than other seasons if gas is primary fuel for heating.0 -

Yes thanks.
The meter is m3 or metric as it was described when searching for help online, so as long as the cost is not miles out ( i understand your variable comment) i can sort of keep tabs on the cost to a degree.0 -
Hi,
make yourself up a spreadsheet and update reading at least once a month, or weekly.
Make sure you give regular readings to your supplier, to avoid estimated bills.0 -
Many of us use 1 metric gas unit(m3) = 11.2kWh in any calculation to give an approx figure.0

Hi,
remember if using the calculator above ^^^^, you may need to add vat, depending what unit price you used, and daily standing charge, including vat.0 -
True, but also equally true if you use an abacus, the back of an envelope or a pocket calculator ![Deleted User] wrote:Hi,

I am on fixed tariff and new supplier says make sure you give us meter readings every 3 months, can i give monthly readings or is this not advisable, new supplier is eon, only given one meter reading so far and that was my readings from the old supplier around 16 days ago.[Deleted User] wrote:Hi,

00017.xx m3 of gas on a standard prepay gas tariff is roughly a tenner.0
