I'm surprised how many ppl seem happy to be exposed to the risk of dysentry, salmonella etc from cockroaches....anyway Saga eventually agreed my experience was unacceptable and I got over 25% of the holiday cost refunded.

No risk at all if you cook them properly.

At least you got a resolution. 25% of the holiday cost back for a few cockroaches seems very generous of Saga, well done them.

Next year you should probably holiday in the UK

I'm more a hostel sort of guy, or tent but cockroaches in a hotel, especially 4* isn't really acceptable.
The odd one or two across the duration of a week is probably ok but the way the OP wrote the post suggests there was multiple ones appearing each day?

If that is the case, that is grounds for complaint, i've travelled quite extensively and even when staying in hostels you don't see too many cockroaches apart from in really poor parts of the world.

Take a can of Raid next time - I used to be a Rep in Lanzarote and they are very common in the Canary Islands
  • Could be worse - plague of locusts, of biblical proportions in parts of Africa, worst since early 1960's according to BBC radio report.
