This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

And so it begins again.....back to work proper today boo hoo As predicted very little sleep last night possibly due to the marathon sleep the night before but also niggly worries all crept back :( Anyway up at 3 after a few fitful hours so I expect to be needing a kip this afternoon but not really possible.

Tomorrow I have a big pitch for some work which I would love to get but without being too down on it I am not holding out too much hope I am just not big enough as a business for them I believe. I will despite this unhelpful mindset be doing all I can to win them over. I have one ace card which is a recommendation from one of their team and I know she will be fighting my corner where she can. So today is prep for that ...lots to do.

Anyway have grabbed some sausage casserole out (at least I think I have .....note to self... labels are a good plan :o ) so will have that with some bread later.

Hope all your days are fun filled

Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH and DS1 up and getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed although I'm not working, I was awake so got up and got showered now dressed enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dark here - so not sure what's happening with the weather.

Dinner yesterday after being out all day was cheese and mushroom omlette with skinny chips for DH - my omelette was cheese and mushroom with a salad. Tonight I'm not sure what we will be eating but need to sort something and give the fridge a good sort out- as there's lots of bits and pieces in there that need using up. Lots of cheese still ..............

Will be having a chilled day but not sitting around getting nothing done, would like to do a bit of a clean so I can start getting back into good habits and keep on top of the cleaning, washing and drying.

Keep safe and well x

• Good morning, and thanks for starting Nelski,
That was an early start for you Nels, hope you'll get through the day ok. When I worked I often had such nights, and managed to get through on strong coffee, not ideal.
I hope you get the work despite your doubts - it helps that you've got someone on your side already, and may the sausage casserole be sausage casserole - I've had a few surprises out of the freezer before.
Good luck anyway!
We went shed hunting yesterday, and we're probably going to mark out sizes in chalk outside, as Dh wants to put a new shed in a different place. We haven't actually bought one yet, just looked.

I've got a dental appt just a check up and hygienist visit this morning, then it's Book Club at the library. Dgd will come after school to liven us up a bit, and that's today.

Hope everyone has a good Monday
Take care folks

Morning all,

Good Luck Nels.

Many thanks TA for the info on Hotter shoes, I will definitely take a look when I next go shopping.

A fairly early start for me as DH up for work at 5am. I’ve already got the DW and WM whirring away, got the kitchen sink soaking for a deep clean and most importantly having my first coffee of the day!

Plans for today are to FLyLady the home, and concentrate on the dreaded filing cabinet. I find it hard to dispose of documentation, so I have decided 5 minutes at a time so I don’t overwhelm myself. This will be interspersed with tidying up my pantry.

Oh well, enough waffling.

Take care all.

Morning :hello:

I emptied the fridge freezer, sorted the drawers into types of food, brought food in from the shed freezer and instructed the others not to mess about with my system :D I was shopping three times per month but I want to cut it down to fortnightly, we get through a lot of bread and milk so I need freezer space for those. I'll need to find a good fruit and veg shop, the one closest to us struggled on for a while when Lidl opened near his shop but eventually he gave up and closed down

I have a couple of loads of washing to do and need to run the dyson round. I'll get some work done, there's not much so I'll be at a loose end this afternoon. I miss my books so will get back to reading for an hour every day - I need to set a time limit, I can easily read all day long and ignore everything else :D It's very windy here, Scamp gets excited and jumps about all over the place, our walk will be hard work, lol.

Morning folks and thanks NELS for the start. I have all fingers and toes crossed for you on the work front. It's fine at the moment but the nice wm says heavy rain come lunchtime. Bah.

Usual rubbish night for me, worrying and dwelling on stuff as usual. A good night's sleep isn't asking a lot is it.

Today is the day I have earmarked for starting all the jobs I keep putting off, and off and off. I have picked the easiest to do first! When the kitchen was done I had a big appliance cupboard made from part of the small pantry. Of course it eventually became a dumpling ground for other stuff I couldn't find a home for and the appliances got shoved to the back. So this morning the cupboard is getting cleared of all the homeless rubbish. Where it will go is another matter!!

TAFF I have tried that California roll method in the past and can't get to grips with it. So, for the time being, I am still using the 4 strong pegs method, gripping the corners of the duvet into the cover till I get it straightened out.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of one. Take care all xx

Super windy out this morning but no rain yet, I think that's due later. I put some washing out for a while yesterday as it was really blowy, didn't really dry but came in smelling fresh.

I had a really lazy day yesterday, did some sewing and a lot of lounging about for the last day of the holidays, back to it this morning. We've already been told there isn't any heating again, not a great start.

I've got my packed lunch organised, hope there aren't any goodies in the staff room, my trousers will be tight enough!

Have a happy Monday, take care. XX

Seems very cold here so I am wrapped in a blanket on the sofa. I have had to take today off as a days holiday, we had a bit of a time yesterday, DD text me on Saturday night asking if her and pup could come and stay for the night I said of course and they arrived. She had argued with her boyf and it had got nasty (no violence but threats) I have been unsure about him since dd met him and apparently they have not been getting on for a while.
Sat Night the row got so bad that he threw something at her and shoved the puppy across the room so dd packed a few things and came here, she was in floods of tears and after a very restless night made the decision that she had to leave for her and pups safety.

Her and I went round yesterday to get her some clothes and he again got nasty we got out quickly but I said to dd that we would need to get the rest of her stuff quickly before he did something with it, we went round again and he was out so we quickly started packing her bits only for him to come back in a raging temper and started throwing her stuff into the front garden, I had bought her an expensive chair when she moved in and that went across the garden and the leg snapped off.

I threatened him with calling the police in the end which made him stop and he then left again, I phoned my sis and asked her and her partner to come with their cars to help as it was now raining heavily too (my OH was pup sitting as the poor dog had been threatened) we managed to get the stuff into three cars and bought it all back here so my house is now full to the brim but my dd and the pup are safe which is all that counts.

I think that this will continue to be a nasty break up as he is very bitter, and dd is opening up more and more about what its been like. He has threatened her with all sorts including taking the pup away and having her put down.

So today we will start to sort things out and dd needs to start making calls to various people. She is better of out of that situation and knows this but is obviously very upset about the whole thing.

Oh well thats see what today brings, have good days all xx

Morning All

Just finished a night shift now off the bed. Still reading most days. Worked all Christmas and New Year’s Day too up till this morning.

Need to get organised now on my 3 days off. Need to lose some weight and get back to my running again. Want to minimise my wardrobe as wear uniform at work so don’t need as much anymore.

Redruby how awful for your dd, hope she’s ok. At least she has a safe haven with you. He sounds a nasty piece of work.

Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care
• Good morning everyone,

A very much belated happy new year chums and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

I very much deliberately switched off for those 2 weeks. From pretty much everything. I spent the fortnight back up in Scotland, which resulted in lots of catch ups with friends and family - lunches, dinners, drinks, parties etc. Whilst it's lovely to see so many people, my liver, waistline and wallet doesn't thank me. Kind of glad to get back into a routine again.

My sleep cycle is still in holiday mode, which meant I couldn't nod off till closer to midnight last night, making my 5am alarm unwelcomed. Opted to turn it off and try to get a few more hours instead. I'll go to the gym after work followed by some yoga, which I'm really looking forward to.

Nels - Good luck with the presentation prep!
Peony - What about scanning the documents and putting on a computer?
RR - Oh my, what an ordeal. I hope your DD and pup are ok and it sounds like an environment they're both better being away from. Go you for being on hand to help.

Red Ruby - so sorry for your DD - at least she had the sense to get herself away from the situation.
My eldest DD has just left to go home to Sweden - we're a fair distance from the airport - taxi, train then bus but she'll be home by about 4 this afternoon so not too bad. There's been a lot of snow so she's hoping she can get her front door open! I'll miss her as she's been here for 2 weeks but I'll see her again in just 6 weeks - her Christmas present to me was a 2 day trip to Copenhagen in February followed by a 3 day visit with her in Stockholm. Then hopefully she'll be home again for a few days at the end of March for my mam and dad's 60th wedding anniversary.
Planning to go down to youngest DDs this morning to help her give her house a good clean and tidy all of little grand daughter's new Christmas and birthday clothes away. They go into hospital tomorrow for about a week, so she doesn't want to come back to a mess. She has to ring in the morning to check there's a bed, so fingers crossed.
I'd better get on....hope everyone has a good day.
