So you dont think he should have checked for potential issues that might be the problem such as boiler first?
Or offer to come back and help Diagnose the real issue or check that his work still requires attention?
When I posted the job all I knew was two radiators were not working, Would then expect whoever come to diagnose why and suggest the fix.
Which he did on first visit as looked at the boiler and radiators and concluded it was a sludge issue in the rads. Obviously we know nothing about heating so took his word for and agreed to change all radiators.
However once job was done the problem remained same (and is actually now worse as less radiators are now working)
He started to then say oh you must need new boiler then and when we said oh actually we have boiler insurance his attitude was then get them sort then. No offer of trying to rectify or explain why he misdiagnosed.
My problem is if the problem end up being the boiler we feel we have paid out for new raiditors for no reason at all as was not needed. We have already paid for the parts so he is not out of pocket but I'm unsure if we should be paying rest when the whole amount/work was not needed or not yet confirmed what the exact issue is but he is demanding full payment and no site visit.
I don't know if was genuine mistake he misdiagnosed or if he was just trying to get the work and push for new rads.0 -
Do you want to link to that
Not going to name as that don't seem right or fair.
Especially as still ongoing.
But he states undertakes all aspects of heating, plumbing and gas including full central heating installations.
Therefore, I would expect that when inspecting 2 rads not working, that fault diagnosis on the boiler and all other elements would be normal.0 -

Have you googled all his details to look for reviews0 -

.
You haven't suggested until now that he didn't do either of those things.
It's very difficult to give a reply to the full picture if you you drip freed information.0 -

Apologies if I wasn't clear.
But he looked at the boiler upon visit and did not mention an issue with it or spot potential pump issue. If it even is an issue as awaiting next visit from the boiler insurance...... So to be confirmed.
And he has not offered to come back at all.
Basically stated his job is done and to make payment and sort boiler out via insurance.
And yes his job is done which was to replace all rads. But that was on the back of his advice that he believed that was the issue and would then resolve the problem.........
So my point is and again apologies if not clear at first, should he not have spotted that the issue is with (potential at present) the pump/boiler and not jump straight in with its the rads and to change them due to supposed sludge.
OK yes he said could just change the valves or both the valves and 2 rads rather than all, but when you are not an expert and trust a supposed one who says that changing all is the ideal option as the job of doing just valves and/or 2 affected rads might result in being temporary fix, then maybe I am a fool but I tend to think OK I better go with the best option of changing all to resolve the issue.0 -
Have you googled all his details to look for reviews
Job site he had over 100 reviews for various heating and plumbing jobs. All good and nothing that would suggest not capable.
One including changing a boiler pump that I have since seen funnily enough.
Perhaps I'm too trusting and a lesson learnt with burnt fingers this time around.
I would have at least expected an offer to come and inspect boiler and possible pump issue etc.0 -

Is it possible to fake the reviews on there0
