Manual vs thermostatic showers - gravity fed system

I'm trying to decide between getting a manual or thermostatic shower. The thermostatic shower I'm looking at has a higher stated flow rate than the manual, but I have a low pressure, gravity-fed system and I'm told that manual showers are better for these as they are less restrictive on water flow. How much can I trust the manufacturer's given flow rate? Both showers are stated to work with low pressure systems, but I've seen many reviews of products which state to be suitable for low pressure systems and have a rubbish flow. Thanks!

I put in a thermostatic shower with a pump to replace the non thermostatic one as we were fed up with the shower going hot-cold-hot when someone flushed a toilet or turned on a hot tap.
It is an easy DIY job in the airing cupboard with push on water fittings and I changed the immersion heater outlet for a 13A socket to plug it into. Removed the wire from the immersion heater as we have never used it in 12 years of living here.

But if your boiler breaks down then you will have no hot water.
