Roof Tiles & Insurance?

Hi noticed water in the loft, possible tile/tiles slipped? Is it worth claiming on insurance? Just heard if the tiles have slipped, could be a quick job? Appreciate any help pls. Thx

The insurance wont cover the cost of repairs to the slipped tiles unless it is storm damage. The insurers will cover the cost of damage to the ceilings, bedrooms etc.

If it's just the odd slipped tile or two then it'll be cheaper too get it repaired rather than getting your insurer involved, don't forget you'd have excess to pay not to mention that it can be notoriously difficult to get an insurer to pay out on roof tiles slipping.

Ok thx alot for quick reply. Didn't know insurers could be difficult when it came to tiles slipping. I am taking a proper look tomorrow in the area I think is the problem.

I wouldn't say it's them being difficult, it's just not something they cover, like you wouldn't call your car insurer about needing new tyres! As a home owner, you're expected to maintain your home yourself.

It is nothing to do with them being difficult. It is simply that house insurance covers perils - flood fire, storm etc. It does not cover routine maintenance and I would suggest that a slipped tile is a maintenance issue.

For clarification read your policy as it will be laid out in there.

If access is easy, a roofer with a ladder could probably reseat a slipped tile or two for around £50. If your insurance is anything like mine, there is an excess of £200.. Doubt if insurance would cover slipped tiles anyway.
