If they can produce the letter then you don’t really have a leg to stand on in all honesty.

Letters get “not received” all the time but that’s not a reason for avoidance.

Thank you for your helpful input. I am certainly not avoiding the debt hence why I'm on here. I want to pay the debt but if you read my last comment, the last letter was sent in 2017 and said £500 not £1495.

If I knew about this debt then I would be paying it. I was simply looking for constructive advice from people who may have experience with student finance debts.

Thanks but I actually have two very healthy legs to stand on fortunately 🙂

As above but also you have had full access to your account so could have periodically been checking. They will rely on this ability to see all mail via the portal.

Also the SLC send annual statements in about sept/October time. Would your last one not have mentioned this?

Thank you, it appears this is a separate debt to my actual student loan and the statement didn't contain any information about the overpayment. It just shows my student debt that I will repay through my salary however I'm not earning enough yet to pay anything. There was only one letter posted in 2017 about a debt of £500 which I have only just seen on the correspondence list but nothing else and nothing relating to the figure of £1495 only £500.
