Reclaiming PPI on Old Loans

Hi I was wondering if anyone could advise me.

I followed the advice on this website a couple of years ago and wrote to HSBC to find out details of the loans we had had in the past as we could not find the paperwork on them.

They wrote back and advised that they found one in 2004 and we successfully reclaimed the PPI.

I have now found the paperwork for the two other loans from 1997 and 2000 and both had credit protection insurance loans added to them.

Can I put a claim through now that I have found the evidence of the loan as the bank did not declare it to us?

Thank you.

No, as you don't appear to have made a complaint before the deadline.

The Bank will only have "declared" from the records they held.

You are four months too late to make an additional complaint about the finance you have found documentation for.

Have you still got a copy of the letter you sent to HSBC a couple of years ago? If you mentioned that were enquiring about all the loans you had with them, they might be prepared to treat the letter as if you complained on time.

Why not ask them? Or, you could phone the FOS for advice.

    Seriously?
Any attempt to instigate a new PPI complaint is very unlikely to be entertained so long after the deadline and the Ombudsman has no power to overturn this. The whole idea of the deadline is to put a stop to the whole PPI debacle, not for it to continue on and on.

I suppose the OP could complain instead that the Bank failed to identify all finance with PPI a while back, but I'd expect the Bank to simply reply that their records were not complete...

Of course, even if the Bank did agree to consider a new complaint, that would not guarantee a successful outcome for the OP.
