DHL Missing Parcel

  • Final update for anyone who's been following this...

DHL finally threw the towel in and admitted they had no idea where the parcel had been delivered and have now amended their systems to show the parcel as ''lost in transit'', meaning I can claim a full refund from the ebay seller.

This resolution came about after escalating my complaint to the head of customer service, they have also compensated me with the amount of £100 to cover my time.

Moral of the story... don't give up if you are in the right :-)

Well done! Many people would have given up. Your perseverance paid off. :)
  • You have to persever in cases like these I would have done the same but also would had many a sleepless night as these things play on my mind constantly especially when someone is trying to pull a fast one. Normally the likes of DHL have a regular driver localised to your area. I remember getting to know one and we used to talk quite frequently and have a chat. Because of that he thought he could take the mickey with my deliveries. I used to order weekly from a company who provided a DHL service for next day delivery before midday. Many a time I'd wait in and nothing came in at up to midday. I'd check online and it was showing as signed for. This used to happen regularly but would eventually come later on in the afternoon. I didn't mind not having the item before midday but needed it sometime that day and it was because the driver was signing for it while it was still in his van because to delivery the item before a certain time took him out of a different location and messed his day up so he preferred dropping the item off late afternoon when he was doing drop offs within my area. On one occasion of ringing customer service because I needed the items urgently he never did this again as he got a warning. I didn't mean for him to get in trouble but told him to ring me if he was going to do this and see whether I needed the items urgently or didn't mind waiting. He had my number and continued to do it without asking. It just goes to show that these drivers can get away with alot when it comes to signing for items. I've heard the same goes for late deliveries where a driver can't get to a customer because it's too late inthe evening. They sign for it then drop it the next morning so it appears it reached the customer on time.
