Hello all, it's another grey day :(. Oh when will it end ?
I slept a bit better, but it was 2hrs sleep followed by 1hr awake all through the night, so not the best. Then I watched the news this morning and depressed myself even further. I think I'll try giving it a miss for a while, I've already stopped reading the papers.

Anyway the decorations are down and boxed up, but I want to sort out the cupboard before they get put away, so they are biding their time in the spare bedroom. I can't do it today as it's lunch and tea with Dad, so it will have to wait til Monday. I'm itching to get my house back in some sort of order ( and boy does it need it  ) I can't find my way into the dumping ground ........... er office yet :rotfl:. At least the downstairs looks tidy, but I hope no one opens any cupboards :o.
I didn't get round to sorting the freezers yesterday so that's another job on the "to do list " for this week.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
    Take care all
    nan xx

    Morning

For once I am in the lots of sleep club in fact according to my watch I had 10hrs 53mins...that has to be a record for me. Unfortunately it will be heading way down again as of tonight with work and 4am get ups looming.

Kettle arrived yesterday so happy again and coffee at my side 24hrs without one is not to be recommended.

Last night I fancied sausage mash and beans for some good comfort food. Some mash left over so today I'll have some turkey slices mash sprouts and gravy. Really need to do some proper freezer meal planning today with the goal in mind to clear them both down this year. One urgently needs defrosting now but there is just so much in there it's scary.

So thats the plan today then a bit of meal planning and if i'm brave a freezer inventory.

Have a great day all whatever your plans
  • Another night drinking tea at 1am. I did get back to sleep though.......OH snored his way through the rest of the night.

We always have breakfast in bed on Sunday, usually pineapple and oranges in the juice, croissant with jam and coffee. This morning OH managed to knock his fruit over from the bed tray onto the duvet.......said duvet cover is now in the washer. Just what I needed first thing on Sunday morning. He is so clumsy at times.

Grey sky, stiff breeze.......would not have minded going out, but not with a freezing wind.

OH sorting his seeds out ready for planting........writing out his planting plan.....We need to get some compost first.

Veggies done for supper, pork loin chops, stuffing, roast spuds and parsnip, carrots cabbage and brussels. Have creme brulee for dessert.

Well, I really enjoyed my dip. I didn't do much actual swimming though spent a good 40 mins treading water pedalling my legs and scissor kicking. I also did a lot of arms only stuff - my muscles are so wasted after so long doing nothing. Even before my op I was severely restricted. Anyway, I managed to organise my grabber, my long shoe-horn and the Soxon gadget. :rotfl:

Now I'm having a lie down!
  • PEONY to answer your question re Hotter shoes. I have a couple of pairs of their sandals (lovely and comfy) but have never had actual shoes before. My friend swears by them for comfort and has a few pairs of their winter shoes and ankle boots. She likes them so much that, unlike me, she doesn't wait for the sales!! My DB and SIL are also fans and have been buying nothing else but Hotters for a long time and consider it false economy to buy cheaper shoes.

GERS and ROSY thanks for the tips re SK. My DS suggested I sleep for a week on one side, then move to the middle for a week, then the other side for the third week! Only a man could suggest an idea like that!

Well the said washing is now festooning the upstairs, the gammon has been cooked and the stock has already been used for lentil soup, now simmering away nicely. I have also grated all the leftover cheese from the fridge and that is now in the freezer to be used on pizza, pasta, omelettes etc.

After my silly o'clock rousing I shall probably have a nanna nap this afternoon. I do wish I could get into a sensible sleep pattern.

    Take care all xx

Morning all! Still drinking my first tea, the tablets do make me so fuzzy in the mornings...I'm back to reading the Pratchett books with witches, they're so funny..I did recently buy the last one of the Tiffany Aching series, his last book, you can really see the difference in his writing from his disease...When Ive finished them I'll go on to the Watch books..
Have arranged to go and see OHs sister in a couple of weeks, will be fun...Also a decluttering incentive to get rid of a few bits of fabric she can use...
Today is nothing much, but I will be making store cupboard food, I fancy the pinch of nom garlic chicken and all ingredients are present, huzzah....
I picked up a half price piece of lamb shoulder last week but I'll do that tomorrow as OH is out this afternoon.
I took the mattress protector off last night when I shuffled the mattress around because both of us are too hot in bed [ that's a first! before all the treatment I was always freezing and OH boiling, now we're both boiling] and it was a much more comfortable sleep without waking up regularly to chuck the duvet off or pull it back on...
I'm goig to root in the garage to see what bits of wood I have that are suitable to extending the sides of the inner porch so we can stack the wood with more stability tomorrow and protect the window. I know I have a couple of bits of ply in there. We're going to have to get something made, a couple of pieces of metal really, or grills for the windows, eventually. Not now though....

TA, what duvets so you have? If you have a couple of singles maybe get a piece of running zip and zip two single duvet covers together, or if you're feeling particularly brave, cut your SK in half, bind the edges, then cut the SK cover in half and add zips...Lot of work though...I'm going to post this link again, it looks complicated, but it really is a lot easier than trying to wrestle the duvet in. I've done it a few times now, it does look difficult, but honestly, you get the hang and it's nowhere near as stressful or physical as the normal way...I put the cover on the bed the way it's supposed to go, so top at the top , bottom at the bottm. Then I walk around the bed to roll it down, I don't clamber onto the bed...

Anyway, have a good day all, Superstar Sunday!

  • Afternoon all.

Chilly here as Steve let the fire go out so he could sweep the chimney, it takes ages to get the boat warmed through once it gets cold.

For some reason he's taken us off shore power, so no hot water, no TV etc, hopefully he'll plug us back in,soon.

I got some oven gloves and a cereal box at the jumble yesterday, I also got four single fitted sheets for DD1 ready for when her new children arrive.

    Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon all. Chilly and dull here. I have been doing housewotk here this morning. DH popped put to get some salad that I fotgot yesterday as we are having lasagne, salad and garlic bread tonight. The meat sauce is in the slow cooker.

Gers glad you enjoyed your exercise at the pool. TA the Hotter shoes sound tenpting. HH good bargains at the jumble sale. We don't seem to have them in our neck of the woods anymore. My mother used to love them. Dumpling you do seem to be recovering steadily so try not to worry x.

Well have a good afternoon all.

Eventually I roused myself from my resting to put on a wash load and take down the tree and cards. The window cleaner is due tomorrow so ledges need to be clear.

Washing is hung up, DM fed and dishes done. I've delivered a birthday gift and card to a neighbour and wrapped up a belated Christmas present for DM's usual cleaner who's still off recovering from a toe fusion operation. Her husband is the window cleaner so I'll hand it over tomorrow.

Now I'm going to catch up with Bancroft.

    Afternoon everybody,

Temperature of 11c today, but very windy so it feels colder, OH and I still under the weather, he more than me, he is very unsteady on his feet still, not eating very much.

DD1 took down all our decorations this morning.......not due to be done until tomorrow but as I am not up to it this year i have said nothing. Dinner will be pork chops, not my favourite but at least it's a change from the roast beef we couldn't seem to finish.

No visits to sales from here, I don't intend to buy anything until I have done some decluttering , hopefully we'll into 2020.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday..
