This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks and thanks BTDT for the new thread. I agree, nothing is as simple to install and operate as it used to be. I've just caught up on yesterday's thread as I never got back on after my early post. I'm a bit nosy and don't like to miss owt!
My 3 bus trip to Harrogate went well and, unlike last time, all buses were running to schedule. It gave me 3 hours in Harrogate which was ample time for the shops I wanted to look in. My main mission was the Hotters' sale and I got a lovely pair of black leather and suede flat shoes. Not a 50% reduction as I'd hoped, £72 down to £49, but happy with that as they feel lovely and comfy.
My tour of TKMaxx produced a few "final reduction" items so some gifts to start off my new stash. In the M & S sale I must have become invisible and I was sick of folk just shoving and pushing in front of me so nothing purchased there! A coffee and cake became more appealing!
After my away-day I now have jobs lined up, including TA versus the SK bedding. It gets harder and harder work fighting with it. I should really get a smaller bed as I am lost in that on my own. I have a gammon joint (surplus Xmas stock) out to cook for my lunch and that will feed me for a few more days too. I shall make soup with the stock as usual.
Have a good day folks whatever you are up to and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning all x
Yet again another bad night's sleep. No doubt I will be taking a nanna nap later.
Got the dog dried sprats yesterday and she loves them but they do stink lol.
Jobs for today are market for the veg and a trip to m and s to use my vouchers from Xmas. Will need to make some more bread and wash another set of bedding.
DH and dd are still in their pits so house is quiet apart from dog munching on her treats.
Not sure what else to do today as I have no energy for much. I have docs appointment on Tuesday so hopefully she can help me with sleeping and pain.
Any hoo better start the day right and at least get dressed lol. Don't think m and s would appreciate my pj's and dressing gown.
Hugs to all in need xBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning All
I had a good night but woke up just before 5 and couldn't get back to sleep. Washing done and recycling sorted, the bins should finally be emptied today, the christmas tree is out too but not sure they will take it as it's taller than the bin and I haven't got a saw to hand!
Lovely day yesterday, called at the charity shop to drop off unwanted items from the loft then on to DS1s. Gave him a KS winter quilt that I don't use and also the cardboard castle, feels so good to have it all out of the way. The DGC were in good form, we managed a walk and a play in the garden before it got dark.
Not much planned for today, may do some sewing, back to work tomorrow!
Enjoy Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
Just realised that I did not post yesterday, the day ran away from me!
TA, your shoes sound lovely, I keep meaning to try a pair as they sound so comfortable. Are they hard wearing? I am very heavy on my shoes and seem to wear them out very quickly, whereas my mum’s and sister’s shoes last for years.
Oh, no on the mice, they can be noisy for such little things.
Today is going to be a quiet, restful day. I need to continue with a little decluttering, and I will pop in to see my parents to say hello. As they are both housebound I like to pop in and break the monotony for them.
Trying to work on a weekly meal plan. Why is it that both my freezer and cupboards are full to overflowing but I cannot seem to make a meal from the contents? I need inspiration! 2020 is a year for meal planning before I go shopping.
Hope you all have a nice Sunday.

Morning folks!
My plan is to be at the swimming pool for 9.00am as I want to do some hydrotherapy exercises.
CAMELOT - you coming?? :rotfl:
TA - you could keep the bed but downsize your duvet to a double or even a single. That would make things easier for you to cope with.
Right, off to get ready. I'll leave a flask of tea for DM in case she wakes up when I'm out.
Happy Sunday to everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Another sleepless night, I feel so tired and flat. Never mind I will go back upstairs for a nap later on. I'm ever so weepy at the moment and that is purely down to being shattered all the time. My concentration isn't brilliant either so something will have to be done.
Phoebe has gone off to work and everyone else is asleep. The cat is keeping me company only because he expects me to give him a second breakfast. Thing is, I know Phoebe fed him before she left so he is out of luck today.
I've just made myself fried eggs on toast but that will keep me going until dinner this evening as we are going to have roast beef and all the trimmings. Steve is going to cook that as he is in charge of the kitchen today.
I made my first card yesterday for my MIL. It was ok but I think I could do better. My hands are quite shaky which made cutting and gluing an interesting experience. Jemima was here whilst I was making it and she was quite emotional to see me crafting again. I want to make another couple of cards this afternoon but I am going to pace myself as I still get very worn out quite quickly. I was worried I wasn't recovering very well from having sepsis last year but I went onto the sepsis website and apparently it can take up to a year to get better, especially if you have had a severe case of it. I feel a bit more reassured now.
Ah, I hear movement from upstairs so I will go and put the kettle on. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Hello there
Beautiful bright red sky here. Hope it's not really a shepherd's warning, and just means the sun is coming up.
Had a great day yesterday with DGC. They brought some of their new toys/games to play with, and then spent most of the afternoon playing with the McD's balloons!
So the lazy day has been moved to today - hopefully.
Gintot, my dad used to say ' wear the old uns out first' too. Then again, my dad seemed to have an endless extent of wise sayings! I sometimes think I should write a book. The Wit and Wisdom of a Yorkshire Dad' I'm sure it would be a best seller!
Hope the sun comes to see you all today.0 -
Good morning, seems to be a quiet dry morning out there.
I actually slept well, most unlike me - I'll probably have a sleepless night tonight!!
I tidied my fabric cupboard yesterday and other hellholes, so now there's a nice little pile for the tip. My crafting stuff will be next for a tidy. My die cutter arrived yesterday so I played with that for a while. We are going out today shed hunting, and I'll need to buy eggs, bread and veg.
We are very concerned for our family in New South Wales, we're in contact every day, usually via Messenger, it's so handy. They are ok for the moment, but have a contingency plan for if they have to leave their house.
BTDT, 'Ive looked at M*scle Foods, but never ordered, you don't rate them then? We have a good butcher here, and I find Morries meat is usually good as well. I thought M*scle Foods were a bit expensive as well. Hope you get those mice under control.
Glad you had a nice day in Harrogate TA, it's a lovely place. Hotter shoes are worthwhile, I bought a pair of half price sandals last year and they are like slippers, they are so comfortable.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday,
Take care folks0 -
Morning all,
Dry here for the moment I have got a load on to wash and will hang it out for a while.
Got up at 8 today trying to prepare myself for the early rise and back to work tomorrow, I am not looking forward to going back to work but I do need to be getting back into a routine both eating and sleeping wise !!
We have roast pork ans all the trimmings today and I shall do enough for tomorrow too so it will be an easy dinner after work.
Need to chop the christmas tree today and put that in the brown bin ready for tomorrow.
Right better get on and do some jobs.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Just me and DGS up and about downstairs although I can hear movement elsewhere.I took the DDog out before he got up and when we got back he was stood behind the door ready to open it - gave me quite a turnhe'd spotted me coming back.
TA , we did what Gers mentioned above as I was sick of wrestling the SK, and swapped to single quilts. It doesnt look as pretty but a heck of a lot easier - much cheaper than a new bed too
Not sure what the plan is today but if it stops drizzling DS & I may take meladdo on the park with his new scooter.
Foodwise not sure,DH hasnt been eating so it seems a waste to do a joint of beef, I'll have a rummage.
Have a good day folks x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
