Sainsburys Bank credit card application online fault

I just tried to apply for a SB credit card online, I filled in two pages of details then the marketing option came up so I clicked unsubscribe whereupon I was taken to a new page where I had to input my email and click unsubscribe.

Then er that's it, no way back to my application! just stuck on the unsubscribe page. Who designs this rubbish!?

Last ditch attempt to retrieve application details by going into History but all details wiped.

Start again but don't opt out of marketing!? Then do that over the phone.

Leave it for now. See what comms you get from them in case the application was at least partly received.

I applied for one of these cards not too long ago and also encountered a problem, but not the problem you mention. My problem involved getting redirected to a 404 error page when trying to accept the offer. Similar to your problem but at a later stage in the application process. TBH I don't recall the part of the application process that you refer to. Did you actually get as far as the approval page and the offer? Going into history won't work.
Anyway call Sainsburys Bank new applications number, the one to call about applications that you have made. They were really helpful and will be able to tell you if the application has been received or not. In my case it had been but I suspect in your case it may not have been if you never got past the credit check and received your offer. You will probably have to wait for the agreement to be sent out to you in the post to sign and return. I think my application was the slowest credit card application I have ever made in terms of how long it actually took to get the card, but if you shop a lot in Sainsburys the card is well worth getting for the extra nectar points because combined with the nectar card points you will get the equivalent of 1.5% cashback (by redeeming nectar point at Sainsburys) on all Sainsburys spend.
  • The marketing opt out was before the final Privacy Policy tick box then its Submit.

So first time wouldn't or shouldnt have been processed as didnt reach Privacy Policy acceptance tick box or Submit (application).

In the meantime I did it all again without opting out but my application was not approved.

Will phone them tomorrow to check I will be opted out of marketing as I won't enjoy any 'offers' from them when they've turned me down!
