How to balance transfer from NatWest to Natwest

Options
My partner has a NatWest card with a 0% balance which is coming to an end in a few weeks.

I have a new NatWest card with a 20 month zero fee 0% promotional offer for balance transfers.

I know you can't transfer between the cards directly, but is there any other way to transfer my partner's balance to my card?

You'd need a money transfer option, but it would be simpler and cheaper to simply get a different card.
  • No
You can’t BT between cards of the same lender

Unfortunately we've just moved home so can't apply for another card :( I got my NatWest card just before we moved.

We still tried but got rejected!

  • Do you have any other cards, anything with available credit?

Credit cards? Both of us have Halifax Clarity cards for using overseas to make purchases and withdraw cash.

We clear it in full immediately because the APR is very high (16%) I think.

16% isn't high - it's at the very low end of APRs - but you're right to clear in full.

However, you could consider a BT to the Halifax card and then to your Natwest. But factor in any fees.
  • Login to both your Halifax accounts, go to the offers section and see if there are any balance transfer offers visible there (preferably no-fee, in which case the interest rate doesn't matter).

If you do have an offer available in either one of your cards just use that card to transfer the balance from partner's NW to your NW in two steps. NatWest to Halifax and (as soon as that is approved), Halifax to NatWest.

If you have the no-fee offer, then all this will cost you is 1-2 days interest which should be pennies or a couple of quid at most.

No offers on her card but yes I do have one balance transfer and one money transfer offer on my account both with the same terms - "4.9% interest p.a. over 36 months with a 0% fee". Yippee!

That does the job perfectly well, thank you so much!

Use the MONEY TRANSFER offer and transfer the money from your Halifax card to your current account.
Use this money to repay your wife's credit card.
Wait until the money has actually been paid into your Natwest account and then do a balance transfer from your Natwest credit card to your Halifax credit card.
