FTB - Freaking out... plus opinion on houses sought

Have you actually viewed these houses in the real rather than just via the RM photos?
Don't go getting favourites until you have physically viewed them, photos can be very deceiving and you need to experience the property to get any real understanding of it.
Its interesting that your preferred ones seem to be the cheaper ones on your list and whilst you may "like" the feature of the "wet room bathroom" you could easily walk in and find its not all whast the pictures make out and actually the whole lot needs replacing, which will add to costs.
I don't know the area one bit so cant comment if you are getting a good deal price wise, but I will agree with cakeguts comments on when it appears cheaper than other similar properties there is usually a reason.
That could be cosmetic and require general upgrading some of which you can do as a project going forward but you need to be mindful that even the most perfect houses on paper and in the photos don't always live up to expectation when you view or indeed once you've moved in....

Interestingly - I've just noticed something...
I thought it was a duplicate listing with updated photos, but there's actually two more or less identical houses for sale. I wonder if they're the same seller or if it's a coincidence?

I was all geared up to move last year then 'stuff' happened at UK level and my move was put off indefinitely - it was only confirmed last week that my move was back on so my head's spinning a bit this weekend
I've got a couple of weeks booked at Easter to travel up and view but I can go up for a weekend sooner if people think my timeline is off? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I think your timeline is a little off...I wouldn't normally expect these houses to still be on the market come mid march or whatever....
They might be but realistically if the market is moving in that area of the country then I would expect someone to have secured the purchase with an offer before easter.in S 38 T 2 F 50

Plus, hopefully new houses coming onto the market later this month.
I know it might not be 'these' houses... but I still think there's value in looking at them and figuring out what appeals to me/what puts other people off? That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Apologies - hadn't realised you were looking for a home for life.If I'm going to live somewhere until I'm 80 - which is my hope#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

If you're looking for a forever home, I would definitely try go get a semi (or detached) if you can. You'll only have one set of changing neighbours to contend with, and semis tend to have bigger plots, which will allow you more flexibility in how you arrange yourself in years to come (you might take up painting and be pleased to have space to put up a little studio in the back garden, for example. Also, side access to the garden can be really helpful at times.0

OP, are you literally just wanting a house within walking distance of work or prepared to look further e.g. near railway stations further to the east? (which would also be handier for when travelling towards civilisation)0 -

Given what the OP has already said then yes, much too far.0
