Parking ticket when it's free parking

Options
A family member used my car to go precinct, didn't park in a bay parked in a space though next a ticket machine as no bays avail, there was no sign saying no parking, no markers on ground and no lines. It wasn't obstructing anything, nipped in bank for literally 5 minutes to draw money out come out and got a ticket for £60. It is also a free parking car park, he put his reg in and said no fee to pay. Where do we stand, would it have to be paid, seems ridiculous if it's free parking, I know it wasn't a parking slot but is wasn't obstructing anyone or thing

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Presumably issued for Parked outside of a marked bay, so may be considered as causing an obstruction. This would be the case for a LA car park.
  • It's UKPC and it definitely wasn't obstructing it's just like a space with no marking plenty of room for a car
  • Sorry ment to say it's Stretford Mall, a shopping precinct and the company for the ticket was UKPC

Wat does the ticket actually say? We need the exact wording, or better, a picture of it - redact the VRM and PCN Number.
  • Sorry Barney it's all new to me never had a parking ticket before, what's LA Parking please
